We had been very happy with our visits here, enjoying the food, service, and atmosphere. Our last visit in May, however, undid all that. My wife's street tacos were brought to the table quite cool. My food was comfortably warm - not hot as usual. The server took her food back to the kitchen and brought it out again equally cool. We asked for the manager who then blamed us for the food being cold, claiming we did not eat it right away, which was not the case. We were still charged half of my wife's order. We have never been so poorly treated in a restaurant. It'll be a while before we're back there. This was disappointing after so many good experiences. But the beer was good.
The wait staff was kind but inattentive. We needed to flag someone down for silverware. We were asked our order once and then weren't checked on until well after we were done with our food. Prior to that, and after flagging someone down for silverware, we kept our eye out for our waitress to ask for a drink refill. We asked for our first drink refill with our bill. We paid our bill and waited another 15 minutes. Our requested refill never came and we had paid our bill so we left.
The tacos here were amazing and the cheese dip!!! For the location is wasn’t expending anything great but they blew my mind.
Second time we’ve eaten from El Zocalo Grill & Cantina (1st takeout and 2nd in the restaurant), both experiences were excellent! The staff is so friendly, their food is very flavorful, well seasoned, spicy (if you like it that way), and so yummy ? Highly recommend!!
Great decor, spacious seating arrangements, full bar, huge menu with many traditional dishes. Although we waited a long time to place our food order, and they forgot to bring someones food, the service was ok. The food was delicious. I will definitely go back to try some of the menu items.
I ordered catering through El Zocalo Grill and Cantina for. my husbands suprise birthday party and I am so glad that we did. When I called to place my order I really had no idea what the process would be like, but the person I spoke with on the phone was very informative and knowledgeable. On the day of my mom went to go and pick up the food and the staff were super friendly and on time with the order. Even after a drive from Blaine to Brooklyn Park, the food was still hot and ready to serve. Everyone was speaking on and on at the party about how good the food was. I am so glad that I went with El Zocalo Grill & Catina for my catering needs.
My whole family loves this place. Feels very authentic and every meal we've tried has been delicious. Service has also been great. I would definitely recommend and we'll be back soon!
I picked up several entrees for a large birthday party yesterday. The food was ready, hot, and the service - which included putting everything in my car, was outstanding. The food was delicious!
My wife and I have had dinner here a number of times. The closest way that I can describe it is Mexican comfort food. I mostly go for the carnitas and authentic tacos. Their green sauce has some kick, otherwise it's not very spicy. We love the green sauce. The menu is extensive but we both have favorites, so we haven't ventured much. We find the help to be attentive and sometimes entertaining. One criticism is that they could dress up the plates a bit, rather blah looking. Adding orange slices and/or chopped salad would brighten things up quite a bit.
I went here because it was bad weather and didn't want to go out of my way driving home. The salsa was not spicy or having any other components other than crushed tomatoes. Chips were good but not homemade. The Margarita was mediocre, but way overpriced, price not listed on menu. Most Mexican restaurants charge about $6-7, but this non descript excuse for 1 was $10. The food consisted mostly of premelted cheese inside a pepper that was not properly prepared (roasted or peeled). When I brought it to their attention, they said I was American and I wouldn't know how to cook "their food"! Excuse me, I am a gourmet cook and have eaten in Mexico many times. And believe me, this dish was nothing to brag about, poor quality ingredients, taste bland, cheese like Velveeta but the cost was exorbitant for what I got. They told me "just don't come back' when I mentioned my dislike from what the waitress told me to expect. My meal was over $30, and I couldn't attempt to eat 'bright orange' sauce on the dish I was served, and have never ever in 30 years seen it served like that anywhere. Stay away from this place, you won't miss a thing!
