We went in and stood around for a couple minutes. Nobody acknowledged is. We found our way to the restrooms. We weren't sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. The employees just looked at us and didn't say a word. We sat ourselves at a booth and waited for someone to wait on us. The employees just looked us again and didn't say a word. One waiter even cleaned a table right next to us. Someone could have at least said "hi, well be with you in a minute." After about 6 minutes of just sitting there we just got up and left. It seems to me you must have to be a regular to get service here.
We had a great experience at Slim's! We are visiting Bemidji from out of town and were in the mood for a burger. After a quick Google search, we found Slim's. It has a really cool look - a cabin style building set back in the trees, which really gives you those north woods vibes. Inside, the feel of the north woods continues with antlers and mounted heads in the wall. There is a larger bar centrally located inside, and cozy booths and tables scattered around the perimeter. They have a menu featuring a variety of burgers, as well as pizzas, a few appetizers, and soups of the day. My hubby settled on the peanut buster burger, and I got the Popeye burger. Both were excellent. I loved the freshness of the onion and spinach on the Popeye burger. Both came with a little bag of chips. The place was hopping by the time we left. Our waiter was very kind. We heard lots of laughing from those around us, so it seems like this is the place to go to have an enjoyable dinner or drink out.
We went for the chili cheese nachos, and we're pleasantly surprised with house made guacamole . Nice atmosphere, and great waitress.
Great service. Friendly staff. Clean environment. A true Northwoods atmosphere. Highly recommend the guacamole and swiss burger!
Super good food employees so friendly place is clean I go to Bemidji all the time guess where I'm going to eat and have a couple beers, plus my wife liked it as much as I did, it's a good bar plus no music blasting!!
Go to bar and grill when you are in Bemidji. Love the place and Lisa and John are awesome.
Slims has delicious burgers! They also had gluten free buns as an option. They also have three different types of alcohol free beer available for patrons who don’t want to indulge in alcohol. I am a travel nurse at the local hospital and I will definitely be back to eat before my contract ends!
This was my first time ever eating at Slims. My Fiance and I have both heard about their burgers. He ordered a Peanut butter burger, and I ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger from the waiter/bartender (who wasn't friendly and definitely acted like he didn't have time for us). The cook(who was actually taking his dinner break) brought us our food and my Bacon Cheese Burger had no Bacon. The cook asked how everything tasted so far and I told him I had no Bacon on my Bacon Cheese Burger. He apologized and brought me a plate with 2 strips of the coldest, hardest, crustiest bacon that looked liked it had been microwaved several times throughout the evening. I didn't want to be one of the people that keep complaining about the food, so I went on without putting the bacon on my burger. The Burger itself was a little to well done but still good. Their BBQ sauce made up for that. It was so delicious we bought a bottle to take home. The cook brought us our tab and he did take a few dollars off the price for not having bacon. Slims atmosphere wasn't very inviting, as for the meat being advertised so much to be coming from a local meat market, they sure should've gotten bacon from them as well. Instead of some cheap nasty Hormel bacon that they microwaved? That in itself will make or break the burger. The cook had excellent customer service skills and went out of his way to fix the issue even though he was on his break. We left him a decent tip. Hope Slims treats him right, because the other guy sucked. Burgers were mediocre and we probably won't go back.
