When I went last week I got some really great Almond boneless chicken, which is usually a good indicator of one chinese restaurant versus another. I am not a fan of their eggrolls though. They have decent lunch specials, and most of the entrees I have gotten were good, but not all. I remember when they first opened the got rave reviews, but theses days I never see many people there when I go in.
This is it. This is the hidden gem that it seems Ypsilanti is missing. I've been spoiled by amazing *authentic* Sichuan food in Toronto where there is a plethora of restaurants to choose from across the city and suburbs. And yet, I'm willing to drive 45 minutes up the highway from Toledo after this discovery because it meets my high standards. Every dish I've encountered has been the epitome of delicious. You have a smaller Americanized menu and a great amount of authentic Sichuan items to choose from especially. I don't think you need to be adventurous to try the authentic part of the menu, the waitresses have all been patient and willing to describe to you different choices. Yes, you can get almond boneless chicken but you can also get Gong bao, or Dan Dan Noodles, or steamed pork with mustard greens (hot and steaming pork belly served over pickled greens). The restaurant is spotlessly clean, every single dish I've tried here has been pleasing and fresh and unique. The authentic Chinese menu is served family style, so be prepared to bring a friend or have leftovers. If you're looking to wet your palate but are unsure, try the Gong Bao chicken, it's spicy but manageable and so flavorful. The shredded beef with fried chili pepper is spicier but amazing and light as the main vegetable is celery. I never knew celery could be so amazing in a stir fry.You can't go wrong, the kindness of the owners and waitresses and the authentic delicacies they serve make this a worthwhile gem to enjoy. Get to it, Ypsilanti!
This place makes the best Chinese food in town, IMHO. Their prices may look a few dollars steep, but their portion sizes are to scale with this and the quality is second to none. For an easier price for frequent dining, their lunch menu is under $10 and comes with choice of rice inc. fried, an egg roll, and a pint of choice from many different entrees. The dinner menu starts nearer $10-11 and can feed almost two people per order, and is more than adequate for one person to enjoy a huge meal or save leftovers. Spring and egg rolls are cheap and delicious, and the hot and sour soup is excellent. Their full menu includes dishes nobody else in town makes. It can be easier to place your order online due to language barrier issues, but these guys are great cooks with bold offerings and offering fair deals. A staple, for as long as I've lived here.
Food was not edible. Didn’t eat, strait to garbage. 3rd attempt at eating here, as I have great respect for a restaurant with a Chinese menu. Side cut pork? Old bacon with garlic and onion. Yuck!I do not suggest you risk it here!
The place is clean, portions are generous and the price is reasonable. We particularly liked the squirrel fish (with sweet and sour sauce) and the ice jelly with brown sugar, which is light and refreshing after a spicy meal. On the other hand, although the dry pot cauliflower was fresh and crispy, it was relatively salty for our taste. We are not from Sichuan, so perhaps this is authentically how it is supposed to be. However, for us, we will ask them to be gentle on the salt (and also chilies) next time. There was only one waitress when we were there, so please be patient if you visit, nevertheless she was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is rather far from where we live, but definitely worth the journey!Update: 04/21/2022: We came back today to try more dishes. The Chopped Bell Pepper Fish Fillets came with a lot of chili for a delicious kick, while the Pan-seared Green Peppers were milder and fresh flavored. The Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs were richly seasoned and equisitely crunchy.Update 04/25/2022: We visited again to enjoy even more dishes. I loved the presentation of the Stewed Pork with Bamboo, and it came with so much tender bamboo shoots! The Sichuan-style Poached Fish was not too spicy but very tender and scrumptious. Finally, the Sauteed green beans were beautifully cooked and seasoned to perfection.
I absolutely love coming to YP Sichuan every time I’m in the area. Super friendly and sweet staff, very helpful. All of the vegetarian options are amazing! I love taking my vegan friends here. This is some of the best chinese food in the area, especially for folks that don’t eat meat!
The food was really, really authentic and spectacular. I haven't had good Chinese food in a WHILE and you know that moment when you take a bite of something good and you furrow your brows, close your eyes, bring your hand to your forehead, and feel overwhelmed by the yumminess of the yum? Yeah, I had that.
First time there today. They’ve found a new regular in me for sure. I feel like I could eat the salt miners eggplant and cucumber salad everyday for the rest of my life and be content lol. Also got tofu with mixed vegetables, which *looked* bland but actually had a lot of flavour (msg? Probably, yum.) best Chinese food I have ever had, with more unique options than I’ve seen anywhere else. Service was fast and inside of the restaurant looked clean, too.
Very good! You get a good sized portion. The steamed dumplings look flavorless but let me tell you they are so delicious! Packed full of flavor! The spring rolls are so good and packed full of filling. Everything was seasoned perfectly!
Highly recommend. Great food and a lot of variety
