Ribs are delicious, love the sauce. Mac & cheese and corn bread compliment each other very well. Best candied yams I’ve ever had! I will be coming back.
Absolutely incredible food. I got the the catfish with green beans and mashed potato’s as a side. The portions are very generous and the spicing is perfectly on point. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone.
It's a lot I could say...but I'm not. I have cooked for yrs and was willing to invest my pallette into something I trusted from the high reviews of others without going thru throughly and reading between the lines. Keep trying and looking into to changing many things about your establishment...most importantly the cook. You missed the mark and should really consider getting with a professional on how some things are prepared. Keep trying and hope you get better.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. We placed an order at 8:30pm and we didn’t receive order until 9:38pm. We were told it would only be 30 minutes. After the order was placed and waited 45 minutes, then we are told that they didn’t have everything that was ordered. I will never go to this restaurant again. That is terrible customer service. And to make matters worst, the food was nasty.
My daughter and I had to visit AnnArbor today from OHIO. Before leaving we decided to stop and get some soul food. We found “ A Taste of Soul by biggie” we both order the combo 2 meats/2 sides. My daughter gets the shrimp and chicken with dressing and Mac n cheese with and extra side of greens and a bottle of red faygo… I ordered the combo with ribs chicken dressing Mac n cheese and extra sides of greens and yams plus a bottle of red faygo…. Paid $65 we waited almost an hour before they told us they didn’t have dressing so rather than get a refund we ordered two replacement sides potato salad and baked beans now we’re told it will be an additional ten minute wait….. we get our food after waiting a little over an hour…. Pulled down the street to the gas station to eat as we’re not from Michigan. Our food was ice cold… literally the potato salad was warmer then the chicken… The greens we’re literally out of can with cut up onions and hell of garlic…. My daughters shrimp 4 out of the 6 weren’t clean but were battered and fried…. For $65 this was the absolute worst soul food restaurant I’ve ever had in Michigan!!!!
I really, really wanted to like this place. My experience was terrible.The backyard lot had a very large pothole.Walking in feels like entering someone's living room. Usually this is a sign a place is great. And all recent reviews are saying good things. I'm not sensing any red flags yet.I ring the little bell, and the only guy in the back comes forward and greets me. Meatloaf dinner ordered without issue, but they no longer serve waffles for chicken and waffles. I opt for just the chicken strip meal instead, although the main reason I wanted to try this place was the chicken and waffles. I placed my order at 4:20pm. I am told 35-45 mins wait time. That's fine by me, I drop some things off at home and come back at 5pm. There's now a rush of people for dinner, and orders leaving, so I'm still hopeful. I proceed to sit for another 50 minutes. I'm now late for a doctor appointment I was supposed to attend at 5:30pm.At 5:45pm, the guy who took my order tells me they don't have enough mac and cheese to put on my dinner plate, and I hear him tell someone else in the back to pull the sweet potato fries.I had given the guy a solid $8 and change in tip, and waited for well over an hour. The guy looked guilty as all hell as he handed me my bag. He tried to make an effort to apologize by giving me a couple 'treat cups' for free. But I think he knew what he just handed me was not something he could even be proud of serving.I get home, and the meatloaf is grey and flavorless. The sweet potato fries are all raw. The baked beans are something we could have made from a Bush's Sidekicks' can with red and green peppers added. The chicken strips are literally the same kind I have stocked cheap and tasteless dive bars with. The apology 'treat cups' are simply Cool Whip with Oreo crumbles. I spent $40 on two dinner meals and $8 in tips on a very lackluster experience.I give two stars instead of one because I could read the pain on the guys face when he handed me my order. I could tell he was ashamed of what he just produced.I really wanted to like this place and make it my new dinner destination. I'm happy to see they don't need my support. Plenty of others are having a great experience here, but that was not my experience.
It”s a no for me, I ordered the catfish dinner and it was just bland and the fish was greasy and about 6 fries. I didn’t know you could make nasty green beans but YUCK. Not a clean environment. Never again! And the wait was too long for bad food., NOPE
