The view was wonderful! The food was much to be desired, I could not eat more than a few bites of the perch I ordered. Had absolutely no kind of seasoning and the vegetables were overcooked. Had to send it back and pass on dinner. Other members of group had similar complaints. The cook and wait staff really does make a difference!
It was a wonderful cruise and brunch love the staff so helpful that it gave a family feel to the whole day .
Great service from 'Jack'. Drinks were delicious and food was prepared perfectly.
Max was a fun waiter and not at all up tight. Menu was reasonably priced and accommodation for a large party with family was good. Portion of lasagna was small, sorry. 3 meat pasta in marinara was so good and well portioned !
I brought an out of town friend here (her request) and it was probably our last time there. The staff was friendly enough, but after she ordered her food, it was barely warm, so she sent it back asking them to warm it up, not remake it. It came back about as cold as she had first received it. I felt bad. Upon tasting my food, I found it to be lukewarm as well, but I feared sending it back (always have heard bad rumors), so I ate it. Mind you, each dish was approximately $21/each! Although the view of the water was nice, cold food is not, especially expensive cold food. I don't plan to return. Ugh.
We were a large group and the service was wonderful, the food delicious, and the atmosphere made it even better. Thanks for making a birthday party very happy. Would definitely go again and again!
My family has been going to Portofino for years and we love it. Recently, we celebrated my mother in law's birthday there and had Lisa as a waitress. She was great! She recommended delicious appetizers, interacted with my children, sang to my mother in law and was all around attentive. The food was excellent as always and I love the water front atmosphere.
Good Food. Excellent Service. Phenomenal Atmosphere
Made reservations for 12, to celebrate my mom's birthday. The service was awesome, the drinks were amazing (definitely try the house Cosmo, yum:), and the food was perfect...from appetizers to dessert. A wonderful time was had by all, especially mom. I highly recommend Portafino's to anyone who wants to step up their dining experience. You can even see the Detroit skyline off the river, from your table...bonus!!
Just okay. Was expecting this to be an Italian restaurant but the menu was all over the place. There were tacos, hamburgers, a few pasta dishes and quesadilla. For our appetizers we had the sweet and spicy cauliflower (highly recommend even though it’s not Italian) and the chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla tasted like it came from a Coney Island. But again, this is an Italian restaurant. We had salad with our entrées. The house salad was good but the Caesar salad had no taste. Most of the lettuce was very dark green and wilted. I pointed it out to the waitress since it was left on my plate when she came to pick it up and nothing came out of it. There was no flavor to the Caesar dressing. Filet mignon was just OK. It wasn’t cooked the way I asked for but the 7 ounce portion was generous. We all noticed our dishes and sides (chicken piccata, baked Italian sausage and beef pasta) were very salty. I especially noticed it was salty because at the end of the night my ring could not come off my finger easily. Chicken piccata looks good but I would give it a six out of ten. The baked Italian sausage and beef pasta was very filling and our guest finished it. The ginger salmon I was told was good and the lasagna was just OK. They didn’t provide a children’s menu so our child ate the adult sized lasagna. We did not get dessert. I think the restaurant is slightly overpriced. I believe you were paying more for the view of the river more than anything. The inside will definitely need some kind of remodeling is it didn’t feel like what we were expecting. On a good note, I would say that our waitress was wonderful! She paid attention to our drinks and kept refilling our waters and sodas. When I come back again? Maybe not. There are other Italian restaurants in the area.
