I've enjoyed meals at Sharaku for a long time now. I've toured Japan four times-a month each time. This place transports me back as soon as I walk in the door. First indication this is a legit Japanese restaurant: majority of the clientele is Japanese. If your idea of some good sushi is a California roll or some deep-fried inside out roll, go elsewhere. I had the bento today with grilled mackerel (delicious), sashimi (to die for), tempura, rice (cooked to perfection), miso and various sides with bottomless green tea. Service was kind and fast and the quality was top-notch. I feel the bad reviews here come mostly from westerners wanting to stuff their faces with fat sushi rolls, but this place is more refined than that. Today, I had a piece of ika (squid) that was buttery and tender here. Usually, it's pure rubber, even in Japan. My neighbor had an astounding array of uni, ikura, and many other nigiri that looked amazing. He was Japanese and seemed to have no complaints. I tell you, this is the real deal.
The absolutely best sushi in the Detroit area. If you'd want to enjoy sushi, discover this place. Their omikase is superb. Myboys area very picky about sushi, but they verdict is simple: truly hands down best sushi. Thank your very much!

Not only does Sharaku has some of the best, and freshest sushi around, the staff and owners are extremely pleasant and friendly! The service is always prompt, and attentive, and the kitchen is quick to turn out your order. The Menu is extensive, offering something for everyone's palate. This was were my wife and I went on our first date almost 14 years ago. Just as good then as it is now!
This restaurant is probably the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Michigan. As a person who was living in Japan for a couple years, i guarantee you that the Japanese cuisine you get here is as delicious as what you can get in Japan.
For my experience with the sushi this was really not good at all. It was late at night and restaurant was empty. So not sure how fresh this fish was at that time. I actually did not feel good after.

Going to Sharaku for about 7 years. Always a great experience. I consider it the best sushi I ever had. Recommend their lunch special, simply awesome. Highly recommend it. Never disappointed.Back again simply fantastic lunch. Super service.
