My wife and I came here for our anniversary. It was on a Tuesday afternoon, so it was not busy at all. Their smoker was down, so no brisket or ribs. No BBQ! Had the walleye. Very tasty but not a a big fillet. My wife had the Greek salad with chicken. She said it was good. Our server was gracious, but ignored us for awhile. No happy hour, so the beer was expensive. We have been here many times in the past. The food is usually good, but disappointed their smoker was not operational. We will try it again in the future.
Entrance is in the rear of the building. Excellent food. The garlic loaf of bread they bring to the table is delicious. I had corn chowder that was to die for. The portions are not generous. My ribs/chicken combo dinner only had 4 small ribs, with a thigh/drumstick. But it was all delicious and food prices have gone up so much since covid, I get it. I thought their BBQ sauce to be perfect. Perect blend of flavors and not too strong or spicy as some are. Really just perfectly tasty. Nice ambiance and great service. Friendly people throughout. All the staff said hello, not just our waitress.
Came for 1:00 lunch on a Saturday. My Ribs and chicken combo meal was good. I do think the ribs are on the bland side. I've had much better ribs many times at other places. I do really like the unique flavored ranch dressing they have. 3 stars for the food. But, my glass of water was undrinkable! It tasted so horrible. I have the same city water so it must be the ice machine. Just nasty. So 2 star.
I love Maurice Salad...specifically Macy's restaurant salad but since they closed the hunt was on. many others I have tried pale in comparison. Heroes Maurice Salad did not disappoint and if that salad was the only reason we made the drive to go there ( this time it was recommended, so it was), it would be enough. All the food we saw go by looked excellent and we will be back to split a small and try some other things. Atmosphere, service, friendliness, and history are more reasons to go.
Enjoyed the experience but there's only one of three men's room stalls with a latch. The place needs simple work done, due to aging. I only have nice things to say about the staff. I wonder what the owner is up to lately, maybe focusing on other or more specific things. Maybe the area it's in calls for different strategy. But it's like a hole in the wall restaurant I suppose. Maybe there's not enough money to keep the place nice, so it's limping along. But I didn't get a vibe that money is being invested here.For the location, they seem to do all right. The attentiveness of the server made the experience I would say.
Food was pretty good, service was excellent, they bent over backwards for are large group, we will definitely be going again. Whole group was very happy with menu, service and prices. Thanks again for a great evening.
Today my coworkers and I went to Heros Restaurant for lunch as we have done plenty of times. This one particular waitress, older lady who we see most time when we dine there is always very short, not pleasant at all when she is our server. We decided to let the owner know about our experience with the waitress, he proceeded to tell us yes he know she short, tough, shows no love and not pleasant at all and for us to come back on Wednesdays when she not there, that's her off day. Owner didn't even address the poor service we got from this waitress , we were Shocked. It was so obvious she was a relative to the owner. If you're going to have your wife, girlfriend,mistress or friend work for you make sure they represent your business in a good way. Wow I said are you serious he was very serious. Myself and coworkers made the decision right then and there we would not patronize Heros ever again. When we got our check we gave our tip to the server who gives us water and make sure we are good, if there is anything we need and who is always attentive to our needs. We've had meetings there and have even hung out after work, in spite of the not so good service we've received in the past. In addition to the horrible service, the owner ran to my car to say to us "If you are going to stiff my waitress on the tip, you can go somewhere else to eat, don't come back here!!" Huh? What? Where do they do that at? Does he honestly think we will EVER come back to this place? Horrible service, will never come here again and will tell all my colleagues. Word of Mouth is Powerful!!! I will take my money where elsewhere, thank you very much.
Had the best clam chowder of my life. It included smoked pork and the flavors exploded in my mouth. I strongly suggest you order a quart to go!
