We were looking for a good place to eat and drink. The atmosphere inside looked pleasant. Our server was very friendly and our drinks arrived in a timely manner, however it appeared that only two girls were running the entire bar and restaurant inside. She was completely overwhelmed as anyone would be. I didn't dare ask for a glass of water, because I felt sorry for her! My son ordered the pulled pork Mac n cheese for $21. It was an extremely small portion, about 1/2 cup of meat on a thin layer of pasta! I had the bang bang shrimp for $15. Again, a very tiny portion of 5 or 6 shrimp on a skewer with very little sauce! Another person had the grilled chicken sandwich and was happy. My husband got the Cobb salad. It had no eggs or meat! He ordered Fried chicken to put on top ! It was bizarre as they said they were out of eggs! Bottom line.... The Thirsty Fish should be called the Hungry, Thirsty and Broke Fish because that's how we left !!!
We were greeted the moment we sat down at the bar. Our bartender Chrissy was amazing! Very helpful, fast, and was always smiling. My fiance and I ordered appetizers; we ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp, the Chicken Wings with the sauces on the side, and the Soft Pretzels. Everything was absolutely delicious! We are from out of town, and we were super glad we picked the Thirsty Fish to stop in and have some drinks and food! We will absolutely be back again for the amazing food and friendly, prompt service.
Tried this place out because of the good reviews. SUPER BAD EXPERIENCE. Ordered a beer after 15 minute wait in the table. Took the lady 20 minutes to get me just ONE BEER. I asked if I could order, she told me no I couldn’t since she was super busy (it wasn’t that busy though…), she said I can go somewhere else if I couldn’t wait… it’s not like I wanted my food right away, I just wanted to order… I insisted and she was rude enough to literally turn her back and leave me talking by myself… of course we left right in the spot. THANKS THIRSTY FISH! Not returning ever again. :)
Took my mom here for lunch for her birthday and the food was extremely delicious ? the staff was very polite and helpful mom has been raving about it would definitely recommend this for your gathering or hang out together
We are here for NYE not only are the staff wonderful the food is amazing! Pricing is very fair considering how much food costs have gone up in recent months. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Traverse City! Even with a packed house the food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. You can tell most of the items are made in house.
Fresh Santa fe salad w/grilled chinken was exactly what was needed on this Sunday afternoon. Lots of lunch or dinner choices looking forward to visiting again soon. ?
Great atomsphere, fast service and the BEST CHICKEN WINGS!
Best wings around! Get the bang bang sauce. Only complaints are the lights could be dimmer and the whole small/tall glasses are silly. Just use pint glasses like a normal bar.
We were there on Sunday, October 10 and wanted to try it out, we hadn't been there since it was State Street Grille. The new owners did a great job with the interior, it is brighter and cleaner. The place was busy but we found a table (no host/seat yourself) and our server was awesome. She and one other server were working the entire place, they were hustling! Fish tacos were excellent, Ketel One Bloody Mary was really good. We will definitely be back, this place is great for watching football or any sports. Plenty of TV's and good mix of locals that are very friendly.
This place is very under staffed. We were there 1 hour 20 minutes during which we never had contact with a server. My husband had to wait 20 minutes at the bar to get 2 drinks. He was never acknowledged. The bartender was interested in tending to regular customers first. It was not that crowded. Now we understand why it's called "The Thirsty Fish".
