I never thought it could (or needed) get better, but then it does.Every. Single. Time.You’ll never catch me order a burger when we eat out but each time we’re in Traverse City, I place my choice for dinner on Oakwood Proper Burgers.Everything is top-notch from the;mouthwatering burgers, baskets of hand cut fries, thiccc shakes, the hardest working owners, the down to earth employees, the support of Michigan made and locally sourced products, the cleanliness of this business inside and out and the entire atmosphere of this establishment and its people.I encourage you to make this your next meal if you’re in the area.Ps - the candied bacon is a must. I may or may not have ate all of my partners. ?

The food was so good and came out unbelievable fast! But the real thing that made it good was how friendly the staff is! We will be back!
Arrived here about 1215pm for lunch. We are visiting from lower Michigan for the bay shore race and I decided to search google for restaurants near me. I found this place and read the reviews…This place is a little different as far as ordering. Because of the race it was busy. You stand in line and place your order with the server that is inside. I got 2 proper burger, 2 build your own burgers, 1 fry, 2 beers and 2 sodas. It is very limited seating inside so expect to eat outside. I have my name and headed outside.5 minutes later the fries were ready first. A few minutes later the burgers were ready. My burger was very good. Definitely fresh everything. The bun was soft, the veggies were cold and the meat was seasoned beautifully. It was very good.The total for everything was about $80 after tips. Not terribly expensive for that amount of food. It was tasty so if your in the area stop by for a bite…you won’t be disappointed you did.
We were looking for a quick lunch after shopping. This place popped up and we thought why not!Driving by you wouldn’t think much. Let me tell you though the owners were super nice and helpful. The burgers were amazing and the fries even more so! They had local chips, and different local (Michigan) pops.Was a great lunch and will definitely be in our rotation when we drive over to TC.
Omg!! Burger was fresh and so delicious! Not to mention huge!!! Had garlic Parmesan fries w/ proper sauce such a good add on! Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area??
One of the best burgers I've had in recent memory. Super friendly staff. Fast service. One of the few places on this trip that we plan on coming back to.
Hands down THE BEST burger and fries! We're heading down 31 on our way home and looking for a quick bite to eat. Saw the details...Michigan sourced ingredients..and had to try it! The focus is on creating the best burger and fries around and nothing else! LOVE LOVE LOVE owners Leslie and Josh and what they have created! Cant wait to go back!
This place is cute, so many interesting things to look at, amazing staff, so welcoming and friendly and then the food ? Oakwood Proper got it exactly right, you can taste how much they care about every item they present to you. Love love love that they use all local ingredients and again you can taste the difference
“I have been waiting for this kind of place all my life!” Succulent craft beef patties, perfectly seared, adorned with proper sauce and tomato and lettuce and grilled onions, United in a symphony of flavors by the robust yet fluffy bun! Award-winning bite after bite! The fries are pure Heaven—-hand cut decadence —that accompanies the burgers with subdued grace. And for an over the top treat try the milkshakes (personal fave=Chocolate)! Astoundingly good!
