Looking for a good steak in traverse and we saw this place that was rated very highly. The sign was missing letters so the building just said bum steer. Walking in, I was not expecting it to look so outdated. The restaurant had a faint smell of old cigarettes and was very cramped. I ordered the peppercorn skillet which was a sirloin with pepper on top. The steak was very blend except for the top which made me feel like I was choking on pepper. The wedge salad is literally just a slab of iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing. The Texas toast was a piece of stale bread. The food was not good at all. Our waitress was really nice though
Half rack of ribs was delicious. My wife enjoyed her salmon and our son demolished the scallops. We will go back again
The food was AMAZING!! I recommend the prime rib. It was very busy but we were seated within 5 minutes. Service was quick. Staff were friendly. We will definitely return
A great old style steak house. The service is always outstanding, the quality and preparation of the food is top notch. The atmosphere is cozy, warm and welcoming. Great menu with great appetizers, steaks, lamb, duck and seafood. They have great specials and combos. One of the best dining experiences in Travers City!
Waitstaff there because they had to be, obviously. Waitstaff also dropping F Bomb. CLASSY. My old fashion had to be sent back. Our French dip was tasteless. Outside sign missing letters. Husband and I , along with 3 others were only ones in place...I now know why. Won't be back.
Great food and service at fair prices.
I went there for my birthday to have dinner, The seating was and table size was a bit tight for dinner. The prices are a bit high but I can justify it if the food is good that being said me and my uncle ordered the 24 oz porterhouse and my wife the twin lobster , the food looked good but was rather bland both steaks were ordered med. to med well the small side of the steak was barely med. but the other side was VERY rare so we sent them back they came back rare, so we gave them back and they took them off the bill. differently not the dinner I was looking for for my 50th b-day. on a good note the jalapeno cheese sticks were great
We have gone to Mode’s quite a few times and have always loved the food. However we went yesterday and our bill was $235 but it was not worth it. Prime rib was very dry. Hardly any au ju on plate. Filets were super small and dried out. Lobster was ok. Shrimp and cheese and crackers were spot on. I miss their salad bar but understand why they no longer have it. New wedge salad is interesting but I would rather have a regular house salad. Lastly, service was ok. Felt like we inconvenienced the waitress every time we asked for something. I don’t think we will be heading back after this visit. However never say never.
If you wanna be packed in like sardines and eats bland bland not cooked food go right ahead .
For the cost of our meal I would have expected the steaks to be much better. The NY strip was small, extremely dry and very tough. I felt they put a large piece of bread over the meal when they served it to masquerade the poor presentation.
