First time visit, won't be returning. Took almost 2 hours for 2 adults and a small child who didn't eat. Walking in to an empty host stand and searching for someone to greet us should have been red flag number one. Then having a table that's was sat after us get serviced first, red flag number 2. Waiting 30 minutes for cheese bread then have to ask for it. The pop also was weird has no carbonation very flat that came in a child sized cup. We get deep pizza which was great but waiting for the bill another problem or even a box for leftovers more waiting. And more waiting to get bill picked up so much so we had to get up and go to the waitress ourselves. So all in all great food doesn't make for return visit when service doesn't match. Save yourself the trouble and find something else.
RR has the absolute BEST chicken enchilada soup...bar NONE! Its ambrosia. We also had the spinach and artichoke dip. Its probably the best I've ever had. Very cheesy with just the right amount of garlic! My husband, however, had a negative experience. He had the classic burger with cheese and was not given ketchup, mustard, mayo - nothing!!! And we couldn't flag down anyone until he was almost finished. Who serves a burger with no condiments? RR! Get better!!!
We hosted a Hawaiian themed baby shower on Sunday May 22nd 2022.From the minute we entered the venue to set up for the shower we were very impressed with the manager overseeing our shower. He was very helpful in setting up the tables offering us something to drink and also offered to help unload the decorations and stuff from our car. The wait staff assigned to our event were very accommodating and attentive to our guests needs. The food was excellent and service was top notch. A big shout out to Roger's Roost for making our event a success.
After a terrible experience at Baraboo for accommodating 7 people, we had a pleasant experience here at Roger's Roost! Food and service was good. The manager was awesome, he walked around to tables asking if everything was good or if he could get anything for us! Perfect example of how a restaurant should be! Thank you for a great night out Roger's Roost!
We have eaten at Roger's Roost before and had an okay experience but we ate there for Mother's Day this year and we will never do it again. First of all when I called to make reservations they did not tell me there was a Buffet for Mother's Day, I thought we were just going to order off the regular menu. Well we decided to stay anyway because where would we go at the last minute without reservations. Well my daughter is highly allergic to fish and a restaurant should follow restaurant hygiene protocol so as not to cross contaminate the food. Well my daughter asked the man carving the ham and beef if he changed utensils and gloves in between touching the fish and the beef and ham and he said no. She said to him than you're cross contaminating the food and he said no I am not. He was very rude. Well she figured she would just stick with the breakfast food because it was on a different table. Well somehow everything on the table was cross contaminated with fish because she had a severe allergic reaction after she ate the breakfast food. For the rest of us who don't have allergies the food wasn't great the chicken Piccata was tough and roast beef should be hot not cold. Not worth the money spent for the food. We won't be coming back here again. Very disappointing. ?
Everyone in my group ordered something different and loved it. Our server in the bar area was wonderful. Service overall was very hospitable. I'm not from the area but would like to return some day.
Roger's Roost is a good place to eat. It has had some menu changes and removed some favorite dishes (the battered shrimp especially) but still plenty of good dishes to choose from. They used to have a drink and beer menu but no longer keep it on the table or bring it with the regular menu's, you have to ask for it and hope your waitress/waiter remembers. The last time I was there I had the lake perch dinner and it was outstanding. I hope they keep it on the menu after lent. Service could be better. The last 2 times I was there, the servers both had little knowledge of both the menu and bar menu. We had to practically beg the first time for a bar menu. We also were treated with indifference, the server the first time was inattentive and borderline rude. The next time was a different server and was better, but still below par. There used to be a much friendlier atmosphere there from the staff. Hopefully management addresses this soon. I'm a very generous tipper, 30%, because I respect just how hard the service industry is. I will continue to patronize Roger's Roost in the future because the food is good. If service gets better, I will change my rating back to 5 stars.
This was a disappointing experience. There were 7 of us. First off, we ordered 2 different appetizers. Artichoke dip and Pretzel rolls. 2 plates of Artichoke dip came out with pita bread. We though it was divided for the table. So we proceeded to start to eat it. About 15 minutes later, we inquired about the pretzel rolls. Our waitress informed us that she had made a mistake when she ordered, and hadn't put in the order for the pretzel rolls. She also proceeded to let us know that we were not supposed to have 2 orders of artichoke dip, and she was going to have to either charge us for it, or remove it. That meant they would rather throw it away than leave what we had already started to consume, and was Clearly their mistake. We were all shocked by this. What a waste of food, and an insult to the customer, and horrible customer service. And after we voiced this to our waitress, the service to out table was mediocre. Slow to take our order for dinner. When my friend asked for ranch dressing for her salad, it was pointed out to her she already had one on her plate. I suppose they ration those to a fixed portion per person. We had to hunt our waitress down to get our tab after we asked for it several times.Overall, not a place I plan on returning to.
1st time back in a few years. We were hoping the food got better over the years. Stopped in for a drink and were going to try some dinner. Sat at the bar and the bartender we think her name was Morgan was really good. The draft beer was expensive $13 for 13 oz of Hopslam. The wings were large like on steroids but were ok, 9 for like $12. The cheese curds were not that good, seems like there oil needed to be changed. Due to this we decided to go elsewhere to eat. Normally we only give a restaurant 1 time to disappoint, this was the 3rd time we have tried this place over several years and will be out last. Some people must like it since its still around but not us.
The food was good but our server was not the best kept forgetting things never got our appetizer blaming it on the kitchen that I don't believe to be true seeing as our food came out on reasonable time. Also, feel like how big the place is my family should not have had a table so close to other patrons that you felt like you were joining them for dinner, I would rather wait for a table that would have been more comfortable!
