I’ve been eating at Las Tortugas for years. Now they have a bigger location but the same great food. Although they didn’t have my beef tongue in stock today the steak was very tender and juicy. My nephew visiting from Pensacola Florida got the enchiladas dinner and was blown away from how big the portion was. He definitely recommends eating here and I concur. June 2022 - wife and I came here for a late lunch. The place was crowded and loud. They were playing some music from the radio but it was great. We ordered chips and salsa. Salsa was very good. We also ordered Elote, and it was really good. On the first page they list all the different meats you can select. Wife ordered the Birria taco. She said she liked them. Sauce to dip in them was good. I ordered taco, regular burrito and quesadilla. Burriot was good. Chicken seemed a little dry but overall it was good. I highly recommend you try it once. It was quick and food was hot.
Very disappointed . Ordered the super nachos with ground beef for take out at work . While it looked good when I opened the container , the taste was less than stellar . Beef had absolutely ZERO seasoning . Which made for ZERO flavor . The only way to add any flavor was to dump the tiny side of hot sauce on top which was about a tablespoon of sauce . And maybe they could take the time to dice the tomatoes instead of just adding huge slices . What a waste of 12 dollars . I threw 90% of it in the trash . I hate to say it but I won't be returning . You live and learn . I learned the hard way .
I give this establishment a 5 star rating, but be very aware that I'm reviewing a Michigan Mexican restaurant. If this review moved to Phoenix, they no longer be a 5. That being said, solid dining options with a spectacular array of proteins to anchor your food choice. If you're in SE Michigan, Las Tortugas is a great dining option.

Excellent authentic Mexican food at a very good price.
Good food, excellent service, and fun setting. There are a few negative reviews on here regarding this restaurant concerning cost, which simply aren’t true. The prices for drinks and food, even if à la carte, were totally reasonable. Saturday night, it was packed, and customers looked happy. Safe to say there’s loyalty to this place.
Food was good the enchilada dinner was very tasty the milanese sandwich was terrible it was like a burnt piece of beef lunch meat there was more lettuce and Mexican bread. Everything was just Ala cart. You had to pay for the nachos, you get a nice bowl of them. And a sample cup of salsa. It was very good for about 5 chips. Mexican corn was excellent for over $4 for 1 ear of corn. Prices were not reasonable. I go to alot of Mexican restaurants local and on the South and in Mexico. Yes this restaurant is authentic, but not that authentic they need some help improving. I choose to go elsewhere for better value and food. Plus I ordered a carry out and ordered a beef molida and was given a dry chicken one. That's it no more...
Love this place! Staff is great. Food is a different type of Mexican than most of the traditional places we have all frequented. It's not perfect, but I give it high marks for originality and friendliness! I recommend it.
If you want to try some really good athletic Mexican food this is the place to go. Decently priced. Very good tasting. The staff here are very nice. Great atmosphere. Will try this place again soon.
