So first of all the ambiance in this restaurant is immaculate! They bring you a basket of cornbread which I think deserves a 5 star all by itself. However, I ordered catfish nuggets/ gumbo because I had been wanting some forever now & a side of Mac & cheese/// & sweet potatoes.!!! When I say this food was probably some of the best soul food ever I absolutely mean that! I would definitely visit this food establishment again & again. My server was Mariah!! She held eye contact while taking my order & was very attentive to my table. Wonderful Job guys
Tried this place while in town for a college sports tournament and was not disappointed! Great place with several amazing menu items and a full bar. We had great service throughout our meal, and enjoyed everything we tried. The peach cobbler at the end is worth saving room for. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you check this place out!
Excellent Service from Mariah! The food was phenomenal! Piping hot, so tasty, seasoned just right! “You Gon Eat yours Cornbread?” If you ever watched Life the movie, this quote is from the movie …Anyways with the cornbread; the issue is, trying not to eat too much! The complimentary cornbread and the sweet potato mini muffin starters are yummers! No need for desert! The music and the atmosphere are on point!
I write this review having ordered take-out; I believe this restaurant is fully capable of 5 stars however my rating can only be written on my experience. While the wait was long, and the prices fairly high; a majority of the food was absolutely amazing. I have never had such a juicy and flavorful fried chicken breasts, and I can assure you I have had several. I got the mac & cheese and red beans with rice, and they were both fantastic. I often feel several southern style restaurants do not properly season their sides, focusing mostly on their main dish; however, that was not the case here and it was certainly noticed. Unfortunately, this review is not without its negatives. The cornbread to which the restaurant is named after was not to my particular liking. I found it very dry, and it turned to corn flavored dust once it entered my mouth; I am aware that some do prefer cornbread to be like this however, so this criticism is strictly that of my own taste. My major complaint comes from the fried green tomatoes, they weren't on the written menu, but I was elated to hear they had them as I hadn't gotten to enjoy them in quite some time. However once started to eat them, all of the coating came off (this may have been due to me taking it out, however my complaints with it don't stop there). The slices were very thick, which normally would be a good think, however they were not fully cooked in the center leaving a much harder lackluster taste. I look forward to going again in the future with this knowledge and would recommend this restaurant to others, however with the knowledge that ordering online seems like a must, and this restaurant in its prime can most likely only be truly appreciated as a sit-down eatery.
Cornbread and elbow roomIf you have a party of 4 or more just order carryout. Had a party of 7 and only had room for 4 to get appetizers. Asked to be moved to a larger available table and it would seem as if I asked them to engineer a metaverse in a larger restaurant. I ordered the "Works" dish - lobster overcooked and no side of butter. Everything else was "Slap Your Daddy Good" seasoned to perfection. Won't be back because I prefer dine-in but great place for soulfood carryout. Overall 3 stars because service and accommodation isn't on the menu.
My husband and I had an exceptional experience, the food and drink were delicious and tasty. The shrimp and grits was some of the best that I have had. Our waitress Latoya was pleasant and gracious. We will be back.
Food was wonderful and our waitress, Donya, was delightful!! I got the ribs....they ribs were tender and moist, the collard greens had the perfect kick of heat. My husband got the fried catfish and fried okra....both were fried perfectly and delicious. If you are in the area we would definitely recommend you try Cornbread Restaurant.
Very delicious, generous portions, warm, friendly atmosphere. Warm, sweet cornbread with butter & honey is served while you wait. We did have to wait about 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to be seated, but it was well worth it. Southern based menu, cocktails available as well. Would definitely recommend! ?
I will change my rating after my next visit (hopefully). I give said rating because I'm not understanding how people who were seated after me got their meal before me. The food was good. The cocktails were nice, Grape Kool-Aid and Peachy Keen. Pork Chops were fried to perfection. The ribs and sauce were tasty. Greens and green beans were fresh and tender. Peach cobbler reminds you of home.
Great place! Food is wonderful. Lots of variety and even some vegetarian. Staff was wonderful, especially our server Donya and Will (manager?).
