Buddy's pizza is a big footprint in Michigan when it come to pizza. It's still made with killer ingredients and Detroit flare. Not only is there pizza is good, but their other menu options are tasty as well. I personally like the decor inside of this place. Kind of a 90s retro diner type of feel, but in a timeless way. No need to change a thing for years to come.
I felt like I had gone to Ruth's Chris, but been served Ponderosa.... So very displease and very disappointed! We have gone to Buddy's since I was a child and we would go to the Conant location. 2 weeks ago, I got my mom a pizza from the Van Dyke location and she said it really wasn't good. She said something was off, and maybe the cooks there had changed. I thought it was an isolated incident at that store. BUT I got a pizza from the Hayes location, on Sunday and it was awful. The crust was not fresh like it used to be. It seemed like it was frozen or something. It was like cheap pizza (which Buddy's is not). I don't mind the price, but want the quality to go along with it.. I usually have to stop myself from overeating it. There was no need this time. Then on Monday, I was telling a coworker about it, and she said she had the same experience in Ann Arbor. This is sad because something I loved has taken a terrible turn, and I just won't even go there anymore unless things change back to the way it was...fresh and delicious. I usually drive by lots of pizza places to go to Buddy's, but I fear that day has passed.
Everytime we go there the pizza is horrible. Thought we would give it one more try. What a waste of 60 dollars. The deep dish was thin and cold. I called home office and didn't get a call back. The Warren location is top notch. Don't waste your money on this place. Very disappointed and very disappointed with no response from the home office. Yeah nice job.
Visited this location last night for dinner. Pizza was not even close to "Detroit Style Pizza". Pizza was flat, large areas of just crust 1&1/2 inches wide from the edge on two slices, outside edges not blackened. Someone in the kitchen or the Manager is slipping. Might be okay pizza, but don't try to pass it off as Detroit Style Pizza with a high price for lower quality pizza. I've eaten at the original Buddy's in Detroit & the 13 Mile & Van Dyke location for almost 50 years. I know what Detroit Style Pizza is & what we had last night was way off. The location at 13 Mile & Van Dyke, which I just ate at a month ago, always serves perfect Det Style Pizza - thick, cheese out to the edge & high on the edge, crunchy, & blackened on the outside edges. Also, our server was not the best either. Maybe a bad day or long day but he just went through the motions. Didn't help our experience when he first came to the table & complained about the way the table was set up. It really didn't bother me but it does bother me when a worker complains to a customer about the business he works at. After serving our food we did not see him till we were finished. No how does the food look or taste when it first arrived or coming back later to see if we needed anything as my wife's ice tea was empty at half the meal. Food wasn't terrible, but don't say it is Detroit Style Pizza when it isn't, monitor the kitchen for how the pizzas come out. Way to much expense for a "regular pizza" Service wasn't terrible, but we could have had a little better experience if the wait staff had acted more involved or they wanted to have the customer have good experience.
Love buddy's pizza. However this location is not great. This is the 3rd and final time. The 1st 2 times I came it wasn't great, and I figured maybe it was an off day for them and I'd give it one more shot. I came on 2-4-22 about 1pm. Ordered a large pizza w/pepperoni and salad (togo) this was the pizza I received....it was terrible and the crust was thin in spots (like it wasn't evenly rolled out or something) . I called up there asking to speak to a manager, got put on hold & no one ever came to the phone. I got hung up on by accident I assume, and called back to continue to wait & no one came to phone. I will not be back to this location.
This is one of highly over rated places in metro Detroit. Ordered spicy Italian for my Super Bowl party. First they gave me cheese pizza. Went back second time in the middle of the game. Got a replacement pizza of half the order. You would have to use a magnifying lens to find sausage in this thick crusted pizza. Never again. Lots of dough little bit of toppings. Lousy.
I ordered two pizzas and was told that they would be ready in 35 minutes. An hour and twelve minutes later I finally got my pizzas. That's the second time out of three orders that they took more than an hour. If they can't make pizza in less than an hour, they should be in another business.
The staff was super friendly 10/10. We came with a group of 12 people and they did great. However, a few meals had to get sent back.Everything was cold(pizza, fries, burger) but we didn’t complain about that because we understood it was a big order. But the chicken Alfredo had to be sent back, there was zero flavor, gross texture, and the grilled chicken bent and tasted like rubber. The burgers are dryer than dry.It wasn’t all bad. The fries tho cold were very tasty. And the kids enjoyed the chicken tenders.
I've always liked Buddy's but it seems that, recently, the quality of their pizza has diminished ever so slightly. It's still really good but it seems as though something is missing. I don't know if they've changed the recipe or whatever, but it just doesn't taste the same.
High marks for delicious sauce and spice mix, and the outer portions of the crust were good. But the toppings were unevenly distributed — more like all to one side, and the cutting was so haphazard that the four slices were wildly uneven in size. How hard is it to slice a pizza?
