I was treated terribly as soon as I walked in. The guy at the counter acted like he had no time to talk to me and proceeded to look around me. I noticed after I ordered they had a special for free drink and asked. He told me I would have to pay more, even though the sign said free drink..Unfortunately I believe this is because I was wearing a black pride shirt. No other white customers that came in after me were treated this way. Even after I tried to be polite and say thank you have a good day, he just stared and never responded.I recommend no one goes here. The food is decent but not worth the racism.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Been going to this deli for years, and for years they rarely get the order right. My wife and I got home with our food to find both sandwiches made completely wrong, with mine in particular having a long, black hair in it. We called to ask for our money back. The lady at the register argued with us the entire time. The owner had the audacity to demand we bring the food back for a refund (obviously a strategy to avoid crediting customers as most won't drive all the way back). This place is a joke. Food is average, customer service is below average. Oh, and they always insist on leaving a tip when you pay. Do yourself a favor and go to any other deli in the metro Detroit area (Star, Embers, Steve's, Stage, etc.).
This place is incredible, but in the worst way. I sent my employee to pick up a lunch order we had placed for 2 sandwiches. When my employee got there and went to pay, the owner/manager said that we had to leave a tip. My employee wasn't authorized to do so and let the manager know that, to which the manager told him that in the future, tips are mandatory. Just that you’d be tacky enough to try and bully my assistant into leaving you a tip speaks volumes on the character of the clowns running this place. I’ll be taking my money elsewhere and i would highly suggest you do to. The food was just kinda blah anyway. Definitely not worth it.
Drew Ruby,In defense to your comment, you were the one that was argumentative…The stores policy is you bring back the food, we either give you a refund, or remake your food…I follow the rules, and I did apologize to you numerous times.People make mistakes sir !!!I’m sorry you feel this way.We give out very good product, and conduct ourselfs , in a business manor…You have a wonderful day Sir…..
I’ve started ordering here somewhat regularly. Food is okay though not the best deli around. But, wow, the guy at the counter is incredibly and unnecessarily rude. This place is probably okay if you’re local but I wouldn’t go out of my way.
Hmmm...Guy at counter was rude, there was no Russian dressing on the sandwich, only given sides of it which were paid for, even though the website states clearly 'This sandwich has Russian Dressing on it'. Perhaps, they thought we only wanted it on the side, even though that would've required a little poetic license on their part. Guy at the front goes 'here ya go', no 'thank you', or smile, nothing. That being said, except for not getting the dressing on the sandwich we paid for, the food was delicious. Al's food may be famous, but this experience was not. "Thank you" is a baseline for anyone in service, as I am, myself. Hell, I say thank you even when people come in and don't buy things. Ya know, common courtesy. Put the dressing on sandwiches, please, if it's comes with it on the menu. Thanks, Al
Was a bit taken back at the prices...Until you get the food, very large portions and great quality. They are going on MY top 10 best list!
Sometimes Customer Service starts before doors open. Thank you, Cornbeef Sandwich was GREAT, Lemon pound cake was Awesome
Awesome food!!Always busy so be ready after getting off hold!!
I live 20 mins from the restaurant went and got my food everything on the receipt was correct so I assumed it was all there… big mistake get all the way home to find out both the sandwiches were incorrect! Highly dissatisfied won’t be going back.
