Ordered DoorDash from them tonight and I am appalled that they would send me rotten shrimp sushi. I will reporting to the health department. Stay away from this place!!!
Hadn’t been in a couple of years and I decided to visit…. Had a funny smell at the front desk… but when we got seated we didn’t smell anything… I ordered hibachi steak and scallops…. The steak and scallops tasted artificial… the meat wasn’t real at all… I had to take it out of my entree….. something need to be done about what they are trying to feed the public passing it off as real meat and charging us for false advertising…..
We've been coming to his wonderful Hibachi location for years before they opened their second location in Livonia (Sapporo - equally great definitely check them out!).We recently had chance to dine here again after a long day at a local convention and I'm happy to report the service and quality has not faltered! They don't force you to have a 'full table' before starting service like bigger chains do. The prices are more reasonable and the flavor and quality of food are wonderful. The chefs are always a fun interactive dining experience. Definitely recommend when you're celebrating a special event for a great night! Also word of the wise for Hibachi Virgins: you don't want to get hibachi *before* heading off to another big event, hibachi is the event but also - being so close to the grill while your food is being cooked means your hair and clothes might smell like smoke and deliciously prepared food the rest of the night!
1st time visit, after always riding past. The food was okay, maybe a lil salty. 1st hibachi restaurant I know of that does not include noodles w/ the meal, $6 add-on. Sushi was good I had a (simple spicy tuna roll), didn't want to go all out based off another review. The sushi I'll definitely be back for, as the menu has some interesting house specialty rolls. Reasonably priced. Staff showed effort. Overall it's okay.
Had terrible service - mainly due to the managers handling of the busy crowd. Looks like this has been the case for about a year now based on reviews from about the past year. Do yourselves all a favor and skip this restaurant.
Went there today. Not a great experience unfortunately. Smell is not pleasant at the front desk. The waitress tried to explain that noodles would not be from the Hibachi but from the kitchen. It was a little bit difficult to understand so when she saw we didn't get the right idea she started rising her voice at the point where other people around were wondering if she was having a bad day and they were not with us. Food was ok. The cook was a nice person. Then the check came. Guys, you charge 18% gratuity because of COVID-19. Well, we already passed that. Anyway, nobody cleaned the table. Nobody cleaned the chairs. Waitress didn't had a facemask, 9 people sitting in the same grill.. so what COVID situation? If that was not enough, if your bill goes above $150, they charge 1% if you pay with card. Guess what? Food was around $130 then they added the 18% gratuity that puts you above the $150. I know those are your rules, that is your business. I don't agree with them and I needed to let other people know.
They screwed up our sushi order and we were not offered a discount nor did they offer us to keep the incorrect item. We were the only 2 in the dining room and one of the staff members announced to his co-worker he was going to “Go Poop”. Not such a great thing to overhear while you are eating.
I've been to wasabi restaurant a few times before; however, this time, my experience of visiting wasabi was very different. It was myself and a guest; we were sitting at a hibachi table within 15 minutes. We were seated with a family with whom the gentleman was a fireman. The waitress was one breath away from being rude ,causing us all to want to walk out. But we stayed against our intuitions. It took about 35 minutes before a chef came to the hibachi table to prepare our food. The place seemed to be well staffed; however, the workers seemed a little exhausted. The chef confused our orders a few times, no biggie we laughed it off & made the best of it. When the bill came, we were all surprised to see that there was an 18% upcharge due to covid. When the waitress was asked about the upcharge, she said that this was a new mandatory charge, no matter the size of the party. Keep in mind that it was only 2 of us. Well, the REAL surprise came when the fireman asked if he could get the 10% discount that's given to 1st responders, as it is stated on the website. The waitress told him that FIREMEN were not listed as 1st responders. (IMAGINE THE DISCUSS & DISRESPECTED looks on ALL OUR FACES). EVEN, after he showed his badge and the verbiage on the website, she still denied his request. Educating your staff is imperative to running a sufficient business. If there's going to be a mandatory upcharge, this should be something that is posted at the door or something that the waitress/waiter should relay to the customers.

I will say the food was good but the service and wait times were crazy. My group had a reservation for 7:30pm and we didn’t even start eating till 11:30pm. I understand they were short staff because I get that and everywhere is like that now BUT, we walked into chaos. There was a customer who was keeping track of the groups that had reservations while the worker or manager was giving wrong wait times. We were told 10 minutes every 15-20 minutes we waited before being sat down. When we did get sat down our table wasn’t even clean so they had us standing there waiting for it to be cleaned. It took forever to get drinks, get any appetizers like sushi, and then forever to eat. I don’t think I would ever come to this specific restaurant and location ever again. I enjoyed my food at home the next day because we were all so tired and annoyed to eat. They gave us a 15% discount which I am grateful for but the service was a no.
