Delicious non-descript Japanese restaurant. We stumbled across this place as we had our sons baseball tournament nearby and so lucky we did. Portions were large and fresh. We loved the different options shown by photographs and descriptions underneath. Our whole family enjoyed their meal.
Low price, good quality, quite authentic Japanese style food. You browse the photos, pick the meals/dishes you want, take the slips, mark if extra requirement, go to the counter and pay, get the number, then find a table. They will call you the number. Not the high class venue but the price and tastes is pretty good.
What a great hidden gem. About as authentic "no fuss" Japanese food you can find at a restairant this side of the Pacific. You order with a unique card system and then the food is served by order cafeteria style. It's not going to be a typical chain asian restaurant, so don't expect to find Orange Chicken or a kids menu. Instead, have a little culinary exploration and enjoy some delicious homeade style Japanese food!
No-frills cafeteria/counter service style. Huge menu with pictures to accompany. I enjoyed everything I ordered as did my friend! Not particularly nice looking on the inside but it didn't seem dirty. I wouldn't suggest taking a date here if you are still getting to know each other.
Amazing food! Really fast service and friendly staff. I would highly recommend ordering the taiyaki!
The menu consists of a wall of photos, some with description. You take the small piece of paper attached to the photo and present it to the cashier. The food is unique and flavorful. The restaurant doesn't meet American standards of cleanliness but I would eat there again. You bus your own tables and pick up your own meals, it has a Panera fast casual feel. The decor is minimal in an unfinished sloppy way, the outside is barely labeled. This is one of those hole in the wall restaurants that only the insiders probably try, definitely no frills.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Michigan, hands down. While the exterior and interior of the restaurant appear quaint and unassuming, the food definitely speaks for itself. The oyakodon is one of the best I've ever eaten, and that includes the ones I've had in Japan. The chicken is flavorful and juicy, and they definitely don't skimp on the sauce as well. The beef curry is also delicious, and you can't go wrong with any of the ramen choices either. With reasonable prices and big portions, this cafeteria-star Japanese restaurant is definitely always at the top of my list for must-try restaurants in Michigan.
Delicious hole in the wall with authentic Japanese food. The place itself does not have a fancy vibe, it's rather a run down cafeteria, but don't let that fool you. I had the tonkkatsu and it is amazing!
Nagomi is the first experience in the US I've had that made me feel like I was back in Japan. Just go and you won't regret it. Ordering is simple and transcends any sort of language barrier. Look at the pictures of food and read the descriptions. Take the slip of paper under the picture of what you want. Fill out the paper with the provided pens/pencils. Give the papers to the nice lady and she'll show you on a calculator how much you owe. She'll write a number on your receipt, just wait until it's called.
everything was so delicious! the chicken katsu was the best I've ever had, I ordered one four eating in and one to go! definitely gonna have to come back again soon, super tasty and reasonably priced.
