fantastic food! Really eye-opening to see it prepared in front of us. The whole experience was fun, different and lip smacking! We're from Manchester UK and we're visiting family. Detroit rocks!!
Flavorful and delicious!Service here was good- Friendly staff and our order was ready quickly. Pretty decent sushi, excellent hibachi. I really love how well they season their veggies and tofu here.
Just left this restaurant and all I can say is that this was the most objectively poor dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. The food was somewhat palatable, but the service was unapologetically terrible, slow, and inattentive. Nearly nothing in our order was correct, multiple items were forgotten, and nothing was done to rectify or even acknowledge the mistakes. Our water glasses even remained empty throughout the whole ordeal. The whole thing went from bad to comical when our missing appetizer showed up 15 minutes after we finished our meal and were waiting for the bill…the waitress casually dropped it off and said nothing as though we didn’t notice it was missing. My spouse and I tried to find a silver lining in this experience and there wasn’t one. We’ll never be back. Honestly, if you’re considering a visit here…just go ANYWHERE else.This experience was top tier poor service. We would have been okay with a slow/flawed experience due to staffing shortages…that’s entirely understandable. But unfortunately our experience was marred by what I can only deduce was either pure incompetence and/or poor training.
Long wait, but only becaus ethey are short staffed. Wait staff was super friendly. A good offering of sushi and habachi.
We come here for both our girls birthday. The food is always so good and our chef did a great job. Genii is a family favorite.
To me this is not an upscale restuarant. Our app. Sushi was delayed, so our food came just minutes after they arrived. The salad was head lettuce. There was only one sauce in all the dinners... no choice I guess. Each meal had sautéed veggies and rice. No other choices. Felt it was too assembly line food. Not special. Dinner was just okay.
Let's start with the good. The presentation was an A+. You can smell the food cooking from the parking lot. The intimate and low-key setting is perfect for a date night.The food is everything you would expect from a hibachi place. But, the miso soup was bland. The salad was drenched in a ginger (non-appetizing) flavor. The dishes contained residue from the dishwasher, which stained the cups, forks, and spoon.Our waitress was good. Pleasant and polite. However, it would've been nice to get heads up on the shrimp included with the chicken and filet mignon meals.Overall, it was average, at best.
I had rated 1 star but decided that was unfair. The food was flavorful and good. I reserved a 6:15 priority seating and got there at 6:30, was told it would be 20 mins, sat there in the front with my kids for over 45 minutes waiting to be seated. When I told the girl it had been 40 minutes her response was “you were 20 minutes late”. So because I made u wait, ur going to make me wait twice as long? Get some adults working here not high school children. Even tho the food was great I will not be back. EVER. so many better options where I don’t have to deal with the hassle. Sincerely, your ideal customer.
Great Experience, Chef was very enthusiastic and entertaining! Had Sushi appetizers not our favorite part of the meal. Only had onion soup available, my guests didn't care for it, I thought it was just ok. For our main entrée has Steak, shrimp and Salmon was all very good.
2 hour wait even with priority seating. Hostess forgot we were there after the first hour. Sat two different groups then when I asked about our table she told me they had a priority seating system. When I reminded her that I was the 7 o’clock seating she just said oh and that they were waiting on a table to open.Manager finally sat us as we were about to walk out. Brought out a free cold and disgusting dumpling dish as an apology for the wait.Salad was premix lettuce from a bag with too much dressing.Waitress was rude and only came by to take order and drop off drinks. Didn’t get any refills. Manager had to bring our check and the other family we sat with there checks.Price is high for actual quality of food and service.Cook was nice but kept telling us he was a dishwasher cause they were short staffed. No tricks no flaming onion. No nothing so I kind of believe he was the dishwasher.Won’t ever come back. It was supposed to be a good birthday dinner for wife. We all left feeling more frustrated then content.
