Bates is iconic in Detroit. People call them all sorts of different names, but these are the original slider. You want a good one, you'll make it a point to get to one. Unfortunately, they've raised their prices but with the state of the world this isn't really a surprise and takes nothing away from the taste. You need to support this local business and stop visiting the Castle.

I've been going to bates for the last 40 years. Surprisingly haven't changed. Always good. Bates burgers are better!
Bates is usually the best breakfast I ever get, today it was horrible. I'm not usually one to complain but they forgot the cheese(which is super important) on my breakfast sandwich.. the English muffin was burnt(literally) and my egg was well done instead of over easy. They must have a new cook. I've never been let down until today.
Bates food is delicious every time. I’ve never been disappointed. They goofed up the order this time and fixed it without charging me extra. Would highly recommend them ?. Also their chocolate shakes are delicious ?
Ordered 6 cheeseburgers and 2 double cheeseburgers takeout...got 6 hamburgers and 2 cheeseburgers! Called and talked to the manager, she said the cook guaranteed she got the order correct. So they basically said I was a liar. Only way they would make it good was for me to return with the order so they could see it. 25 minute drive in rush hour...not gonna happen. Honestly with all the hype expected them to taste better. Honestly would prefer McDonalds.
Bates is a staple in this community. People say it’s the best burgers anywhere - while I don’t agree with that, they are unique burgers that you have to try at least once in your life. The perfect old school diner place to get burger with your kids or even a fun date place.
This place has been around and in the exact same location for over 60 years and it never disappoints. The burgers are smothered in cooked onions and pickles, fries are good and the chocolate shakes are the bomb. Always good stuff there!
