Terrific burgers, fries, and onion rings! That being said, the prices are VERY high for what amounts to fast food ($85 for 5 meals with drinks). The indoor dining is uninviting and has no large tables. It's a shame the owner didn't put some old fashioned dinner ambience in to go along with the name. The staff member that brought us our large bag of food (we dined in but still got a bag?) didn't speak, smile, or anything, which was strange and uncomfortable. The bag itself has all of our food on top of our fries and onion rings, smashing everything down. Great food, but we won't be back to Way Back.
Idk why they’re rated so well. We finally decided to try them, as we always felt it was rather expensive. Well, they are. Super overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. We all got 4 single burgers with topping, fries and 4 shakes. That totaled out to $73 before any tip or delivery fees. Very bland food, burgers aren’t seasoned at all. For the price I expect a good bun, not cheap BBQ at the park buns. $7.50 for a small shake that isn’t really special, I was a bit surprised that their peach shake is just a syrup. All in all the most disappointing restaurant we’ve tried in a long time. I could go to 5 guys or Red Robin and spend $30 less for more food.
I normally love this place. This is the first order out of maybe 50 where the food wasn’t perfect. Onion rings are burnt to a crisp. No napkins or utensils. Burger was still on point.
We stopped in to the Lansing MI Wayback Burgers. Omgosh what great burgers, fries, tots, & onion rings!! So much better than the "fast food" places. The employees were friendly, helpful and had smiles to share with us!! The bathroom was clean and fully stocked with supplies. Reminded me of a burger diner of years past!!! Go get yourself an amazing burger and sides to go with it!!!
A couple of years ago I ate here and everything was super good! Then, the quality of the food totally justified the price. Oh, how things have changed. We ordered the following...one plain single cheeseburger, fries, shake & one double with a pop & tenders, fried pickles & shake. I was shocked when it came to $49 but ok. First out were the shakes. Both chocolate...both like drinking weak chocolate milk. Then the food...chicken tenders just ok. The two burgers were on buns "firm". Not sure if they had been sitting out or just older than should be served. Fries were fries and the pickles were just fair. It was so disappointing. The double burger had the best potential but going easy on the toppings and the very firm bun made it fall in the "fair" category. Now, a lot of this review is based on the $49 price tag. For that kind of money the food should be really good. It's just burgers, tenders, fries and shakes, after all. Bottom line...we won't be back. It's really bad when the 9 year old says we should have gone to Wendy's or Culver's. Sadly, she was right. The one upside...the young lady taking orders was super sweet.
I know there are people that love this place but to me it’s a love it or hate it thing and I’m in the latter group. I think the burgers are WAY over priced and they don’t have good flavor or texture. The cost is similar to a full service restaurant but this is a “fast food” joint. I tried when they opened and after a year I gave them another shot and it was just as disappointing as I remembered. I really enjoy a good burger and if you do too I would select another restaurant.
First time getting food from there. We put a togo order from their web site. for 3 burgers, a Cheesesteak sandwich, and one kids chicken tenders meal at the West Lansing location. The amount of fries we got wasn't nearly enough for the amount of people eating. Beside that the fries were tasteless, no seasoning to be found on them. My daughter asked for mushrooms on her burger and when we got it there were no mushroom in it at all. The chicken tenders where way over cooked and tough. So in conclusion the value of what you get for what you pay is not there, there are better places for a burger in the west side. I wish I could give 3 stars review but I simple cannot.
GREAT burgers! Seriously one of the best burgers I have ever had. Great, friendly service as well. It was our first time eating here so we tried a shake after eating & LOVING the burger & the shake was very good too.
The Best burgers and fires I have had in a very long time with everything being very sanitary with great customer service. Felt not rushed at all got my food out at a good time everything was a immaculate temperature. Does not matter what you get on the menu everything is really good 10/10.
Awesome burgers, and the totts were good too. Overall a great meal and definitely recommended.
