I came for the second time, and once I took a bite of my food I felt so silly for not coming back sooner. This establishment is so welcoming and clean. The staff are super friendly, patient and attentive. The food literally reminds me of home and I do not say that lightly. The fish and chicken is seasoned to perfection. The greens are flavorful and done just right. The mac and cheese and yams we're blessed by the ancestors lol. And I could literally go on and on about everything else I've had as well. Also, if they have the curry chicken that day make sure you get it because it is not to be played with. We got it to go so we could have it the next day and it heated up so well and was one of the best things I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back as soon as possible. This restaurant is definitely a treasure and deserves all the support and accolades.
Amazing experience!! We drove up from Grand Rapids & stubbled on a Gem! We had a bit of a wait due it being a holiday & understandably short staffed. However the Owner was soooo gracious & paid for 80% of our bill for the wait. The food y’all ? was so good! I can’t remember going anywhere that comes close. The meats were light, fried to perfection! Sides were all excellent , fresh ingredients & savory seasonings. Oh and get a dessert the Carmel & lemon berry cake is EVERYTHING! Thank you for your excellent services & delicious food! Helen & Kameron
the atmosphere is very current and aesthetically pleasing. the staff are extremely attentive and welcoming. most importantly, the food is bomb! we actually stopped in to get take out but wish we stayed to eat there. we got the chicken and waffles and catfish dinner. probably the best fried chicken and fish i’ve had in a long time. it’s all legit seasoned to perfection and falls right off the bone. mac and cheese tastes homemade and the the collard greens (not pictured) has a great heat/spice to them. we will be back to try all of the menu.
Ty's Joint will not disappoint you. It was just like eating a good ole Sunday dinner at Grandma's house.I was extremely surprised at how well seasoned everything was (most restaurants don't season well) and it all came out hot and fresh.I will most definitely be traveling back to Kalamazoo to eat here again, it's worth the trip.
Wonderful experience the food was delicious and so good..Tyrone was a gracious and eloquent host. Very patient and delect with my mom whom was flirting. The atmosphere was laid-back and warm.
New soul food restaurant in the Edison neighborhood (south side of Kalamazoo). Decor & atmosphere is beautiful and everything sparkling clean with all Covid protocols observed. Delicious food and friendly, excellent service. Healthy portions. The owner, Ty, even went out and did more shoveling so my companion, with a cane, could more safely get into the car. We will definitely be back!
I am so in love with this place :)!! The food was so good, the staff is so friendly and welcoming, and the location is beautiful:)! Def recommend:)
Birthday Brunch with My Sisters...Excellent Large tastsy Catfish fillets, large bowel of tender and a hint of spice String Beans, Momma's Candid Yam's very good, Okra lightly floured tasty and healthy green hue, the two desserts we shared were Banana Pudding with wafers and Ole School Delicious Flavor. The instrumental music was very nice BUT a great part of the experience was Our WAITER was on point, polite and super service! A great Value Experience!!
Food is amazing. Long wait but worth it. True home cooking! I recommend the lamb chops and well... Everything!
We took my Brother and his wife to Ty's last weekend and they loved it so much that they went back for more Saturday. Over those 2 days, we ate catfish, greens, chicken, yams, lamb chops, green beans and dressing. All of it was great! We were so impressed at how juicy and flavorful the fried chicken was, especially the breast. Keep on cooking Ty's. We'll be back!
