We have been coming here for years. It is our favorite pizza in Kalamazoo. What we get the most though is their baked Italian subs. Oh my Gosh they are so good!
This is a great neighborhood pizza joint. Do yourself a favor and break away from the chain restaurants and give this place a try. The pizza is delicious and they just might have the best wings in town. Staff and service are great and the restaurant has a great hometown feel to it. It gets busy so if you are in a hurry I recommend ordering ahead or just grab a beer from the bar while you wait. Either way you won't be disappointed.
We ordered pickup after a long day. Fantastic pizza and I can see why they get great reviews.First, it is really off the main road and easy to miss. But when we got there, the place was packed. Very small interior, but they serve great beer and it seems like they have a dedicated clientele. I can see why.I am from out of town, but this was a great pizza by any standards. We ordered a standard pepperoni, mushroom and onion pizza and the bacon ranch pizza. The bacon ranch was way better than I expected. Both were cooked just right and the bacon ranch, which I thought would be overwhelming with ranch was just right. Not overkill on the ranch or bacon, just right. I am normally a "standard pizza" person, but that one won me over.We arrived early for pickup and had a beer. The selection, while not extensive, was very good. Had a Bell's Hopslam while we waited which was perfectly cool. For such a small location and for being kinda hidden, it has a great following and I can see why that is the case. When back in town, we will be sure to order again.Staff was very helpful and attentive. The place was full, with very friendly people. I can see why this place is a favorite hangout by locals. Not being a local, I would love to see a place like this where I live.
The calzones are pretty good, we love that they're closer to authentic with the ricotta in the inside. Their food does tend to have a lot of crust and that crust tends to be underbaked, but if you pop it in the oven for a few extra minutes at home it's really good!
Have tried this pizza a few different times. The quality is hit or miss, sometimes it's great sometimes it's a soggy mess. Probably won't order any more though, which sucks because it's convenient to the south 12th st area
Decided to give this place a try. Ordered online over an hour in advance and received email confirmation of the order. They emailed that the order was canceled while I was driving to pick up the order, so of course I didn't see the notice. Not sure why they wouldn't utilize the phone number that they request at checkout. They said I'd have to wait over an hour if I wanted them to make the pizzas. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere. Very disappointed!
The most delicious cauliflower crust pizza!
Their store sign accurately sums up this place: “Amazing pizza & more.” When it comes to pizza, this is metro Kzoo’s best kept secret. The pizza truly is amazing. There are a lot of gimmick pizza joints in town, and you can certainly find cheaper options. However, if you want a straight up hearty pizza loaded with delicious sauce, thick cheese, and jumbo fresh toppings, you can’t beat Maestro’s (in Kzoo, that is).Regarding the “more”, their calzones are also outstanding. Most of the sandwiches are great too.The owner is wonderful. One time they got my small pizza order wrong, so he gave me the wrong one for free in addition to correcting the order. Another time I ordered a pizza half supremo and half just cheese. He actually took the time to call me and let me know that he could make the pizza, but cautioned that it would not cook evenly (and that I might not be happy with it) because of the topping imbalance, and he advised other options. I have never had a restaurant take the time to care for customers like this.FYI: I have been getting Maestro's pizza for 10+ years (since it was located in a booth in the liquor store across the street!). I always call in for take-out. (I don’t bother with error-prone online platforms or delivery services). I also don’t eat-in…it is a little small for families and it always feels like there is a private party going on inside. Therefore, I can't speak to in-store service.
Best pizza in the Portage/Kalamazoo area! Everything tastes homemade and is absolutely delicious. The intimate dining atmosphere enhances the experience, and the customer service is amazing.
