I think that they service was very friendly. They massages were good but were paid for a two hour spa and couples massage package but right at the end of the first hour they said okay your all done you can get dressed and go. I didn't argue withem about it but it was pretty pricey for getting half of what I paid for. The house was very interesting though and i would have like to see more of it but we weren't allowed the time too. One last thing. I rescheduled our appointment an additional week later because the hot tub was broken. When we arrived we figured it would have been repaired but sadly it still wasn't. I'm not sure if I will repeat the experience again. It's Really too bad because if we would have gotten the service we paid all that money for my review would have very different. It wasn't a very good first impression at all. Maybe I will have a better experience when I go on my next vacation. This one just didn't turn out well at all.
This was an *experience*. Called ahead for a massage, never got on the schedule. Murder Mystery Dinner was fun with the people running the event, but the food left a lot to be desired. Breakfast was completely inedible. Didn't have anyone on staff that knew how to redeem a gift card. It has a lot of potential to be great, and the staff is clearly under valued and doing their best. I assume the poor service and upkeep comes from the owner.Edit: there was also a second event going on at the venue, which meant at 10pm when we wanted to return to our room we had to walk through another presentation to get there. Not well planned out.
Awesome customer service even for being short handed! We weren't sure if they were full of it when they said the jets on the hot tub didn't come on because it only comes on when it needs to heat up... That's the first that I've heard of a hot tube performing that way. We still enjoyed the warm water on the roof top with the beautiful breeze and sun shine! The couples massage was relaxing and joyful!
This castle is absolutely gorgeous! We stayed in the Italian room for our anniversary and we loved it. Dinner and breakfast were superb, and everyone that worked there was incredibly nice and helpful. We will definitely be going back!
I can not say enough wonderful things about my most recent stay at the Henderson Castle. From the moment we had any contact with the staff, every moment was luxurious. Julie greeted us warmly at the door and escorted us up to our wonderful room, the "Italian Suite." The room was beautifully decorated with champagne, roses, rose peddles and chocolate covered strawberries. Later that evening we sat in the spirits lounge under the direction of Shawna the most fantastic bar tender I have ever met. She truly knows how to make the best chocolate Martini. Not only can she make the best drinks but she is also quite the conversationalist engaging all the guests in conversation and truly getting to know them and make them feel right at home. Jaquar, the hotel manager was also amazing in making sure our stay was wonderful. I can not say enough wonderful things about my stay at this beautiful Historic Inn. I hope to be back to visit there very soon. This staff and castle Rocks!!!
It was a cool place to stay but more of a "something to do once" type thing. It was overrated and overpriced for what you get. Then they want you to add on spas and dinners that were really expensive (we did not eat dinner there or do events or add ons). We got the Italian room. Ours was big but we were able to peek into another room that was open and it was very small. We had adequate heat but other guests were talking about being too hot or cold. I think the way they split up the rooms just didn't work out well with size and heat distribution. Like the radiator was in the bathroom and that was most of our heat. I get that the place was super old but it needed some TLC. There was drywall patched but not painted over, caulk that looked like a kid did it on the tub, etc. The biggest part of why I rated my review a 3 star, is that the jets in our tub didn't work and the breakfast is awful. Even though it's a bed and breakfast, all you get free is a Continental. And I know that's just some cold stuff but the problem was it was so tiny! I wish we had slept in instead. The place was dog friendly though which is super cool. There's a lot in the area that is also dog friendly.
We attended a dinner murder mystery at the castle. The people organizing the murder mystery did a very nice job. The food and service from the castle however, were horrible. Our servers didn't bother to refill waters. All drinks had to be ordered at the very slow bar. And the food tasted terrible. The steak was extremely tough. The chicken rubber dry. The salad so sad. To top it all off, it took over 2 hours to serve dinner. People got their steaks 30 minutes before the chicken or salmon. And horribly, one person at my table didn't receive a dinner at all. We mentioned he was waiting for his chicken, but the server never brought one. The manager was not apologetic and did not comp his dinner. He got a to go chicken after dessert. I would not recommend the castle at all.
if you want a little getaway come to The Henderson castle! Stayed in the Dutch room such a beautiful room with a king size bed. Hot tub on the roof time so cool and an amazing view of the city of Kalamazoo. We did have to wait for the last spa to be over cause the staircase is in the same room. But when the last spa appointment is over then the door is open to go up to the hot tub. Opened for a few hours for guests to use so thats fine because we still enjoyed it! It was not the workers fault. We had a few drinks at the bar with an amazing ceiling so beautiful and unique. So glad we got a little history at the front desk because she is the tour guide so she knew a lot about the castle! Cant wait to come here again! I hope my review helps you guys to stay here!!
The castle is a magical place, with amazing food, and wonderful staff. I’ve stayed multiple times, each time leaving feeling refreshed, renewed, and satisfied. The lobster bisque is some of the best I’ve ever had!!! And if you need a massage I highly recommend the spa.
We had a great time staying at this historic landmark. Henderson Castle felt like a museum that you could stay at. Each room had a theme that looks like a display that you can enjoy. There is a lot of details worth checking out. If you get there early enough, you can explore the history. The employees were very helpful when we arrived and they were very understanding for any concerns that me or my friends had while staying there. The hot tub on the roof was easy to use and exciting for the winter time.We are considering coming back again either in the fall or some time next year. Thank you for a memorable experience.
