I love this place. I happen to be in the area and had to stop. I used to go here quite a bit when I was going to western and doing my apprenticeship. They have amazing coney sauce. The staff is amazing as well. I would definitely recommend this place if you want amazing hotdogs or a sandwich. They also have a second location. This place has been a staple of Kalamazoo for years and I am sure that it will continue for many more.

Sitting here in Fountain Hills, AZ talking about where we MUST go when we visit Kalamazoo this June. 1st stop is Coney Island! The first visit that I remember is exactly 60 years ago around this time of year. Since then, I personally have eaten at Coney Island between 500-1,000 times. I used to work behind the restaurant at the original Okun Brothers Shoes store, so it was my go to place several times per week for years.My 92 yr old father used to take friends and business associates here. I'm bringing him with me in June!The food quality remains consistent, the family and employees are always friendly and helpful. This place is a huge asset to Downtown Kalamazoo and I sincerely hope it successfully continues on for another 100 years. Coney Island survived the tornado of 42 yrs ago (today!) so let's keep supporting this wonderful family and business.
Rude service. Forgot food from order. Wasn't able to then enjoy my food to go back to get what was missed asked to have the missing food replaced plus what I Wasn't able to eat. They gave me a hard time. We go here once to twice a week. Had to drive back there 10 mins plus gas and they gave me a hard time about 2 coneys I didn't get to eat because my son didn't have his food so I had to drive back there. Ridiculous. If the owner reads this please reach out. I spend a lot of money here and to be treated the way they treated me about them not fulfilling an order is just not right. This is for the West Main store to be clear.
I have grown up eating these dogs, so they are the best, no comparison is close with the exception of Reds Root beer in Paw Paw. One of my favorite places to visit when I go back to my hometown.
Friendly staff, everything made hot and fresh. Great for a laid-back lunch. About a 5-10 minute wait, an expected amount of noise for being a small place near all of the kitchen machines. Loved visiting while downtown!
My Grandpa used to go here in the 70's, still has the same feel. Classic food and great staff.
HAPPY DOGS!!!! The BEST hot dogs made. Wow they just have that special flavor in their chili. Been going here since I was a kid. Every time I land back in kzoo this is a MUST go for me. Hot dog fan or not you gotta love Coney Island. Over 100 years and still going in the SAME location. Put this on your list of DO IT FOR THE DOGS!!!!
My mom and dad met at coney Island 53 years ago. They used to take us kids every weekend, my mom continued to take us every weekend after my father passed away. She passed away this past Easter and haven't had it in me to return just yet. But the food is amazing and the staff is friendly. A real pleasure to dine there. I may be away for now, but will return in due time.
Service and food was quick. If you liked this place when you were a kid, you'll like it as an adult. Not much has changed.
