Food was outstanding and the service was fantastic- highly recommended.
Atmosphere is great service was ok but when you spend $60 on steak only as it comes with nothing you must order everything separately and you wait 15 minutes to get it and itâs totally over cooked then it takes ten more minutes for your server to check on you to see if everything is okay and when itâs not, he was more than willing to get me a new steak but my wife was more than half done with her meal I said forget it. I wonât be going back anytime soon.
Very good dining experience, but not great or superb. Yet, the prices represent something more special / memorable. Very expensive for what they present - more expensive than some of the finest steakhouses (which Veritas is not). Not very busy on an evening which should have been more so. I don't envision this establishment surviving much longer unless something changes, especially in this environment and location.
The food was average for the price. Was really expecting more
While the appetizer was good my 55$ steak was not... I ended up salvaging about a quarter of the steak after cutting off all of the thick excess fat. On top of that it was so over cooked it was white. Beautiful place and scene, nice service, but for 55$ I got around 4oz. Of tasteless meat on my plate with a couple tomatoes. I have no problem spending a few hundred dollars on a good meal on occasion but this was just a massive disappointment... For sure won't be coming back.
Tried this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend. Not overly impressed. The atmosphere was nice as well as the music. The wait staff was nice but had to keep apologizing for the bartender delay. The bartender was too busy telling the customers about his non-profits that the appetizer came out before the drinks. Then, when a second drink was ordered it took so long the we cancelled it and left. We were sitting right next to the bar, so could hear and see all that was going on. Even the patrons at the bar left after one drink. As for the food, it was OK, nothing to write home to mother about. I like fine dinning, and do not mind paying for it, however, the price was a bit steep for the average steak I received and lack of professionalism on the behalf of the bar staff.A 2 star based on the service of the wait staff and the bread.
Dinner & drinks were outstanding!!
New menu with new chef is nice to see. Taking some risks to educate palates. Shrimp starter very enjoyable. Spicy. Perfectly cooked. Caprese salad disappointing. While a slice of heirloom tomato, others ordinary and w/o much flavor. Green tomatoes hard and not enjoyable. Asparagus pesto nice. Service efficient. Not especially welcoming. Will return as Veritasâs success is important to community. Potential is there.
Veritas is the top restaurant in Jackson-Michigan, great staff, music, environment and even greater food. We are making a tradition of spending our anniversary here and we love it, they knew it was a special occasion and made it even more special. We had sushi as an appetizer and we loved it, I also recommend the Great Lakes walleye and sirloin oh and crème brûlée ?? we will continue to dine here, next time we are planning to bring the kids for a special family dinner ?, just know that I come from Texas spend time here in Michigan and dine here as well ?
Seated immediately for reservation. Waiter was attentive. Dining seemed to be at about 60% capacity so it would have been nice to get a booth for 2 rather than a tiny table next to a fish tan, opposite the restrooms ooms. Food was good. Live music was good. Nice night out.
