Had not been to Cracker Barrel in over 6 years. A lot had changed on the menu and that is to be expected. The food did not taste fresh though. My salad tasted old. Not worth the effort or money but we had an excellent waiter named Mike who's been there for over 6 years. He cared for us well and had a great personality. Unfortunately I wouldn't go back. That's not my idea of a treat.
We have been frequenting this location for a few years. Over the past few months, each visit has gotten worse and worse. Today's dinner was our last visit. The food was below normal quality and smaller portion sizes, was under- or overcooked and only mostly warm/fresh. The staff was unprofessional beyond what we could believe. They did most everything wrong, from not filling drinks, to bringing the wrong drinks, to calling us pet names throughout, to standing in their uniform talking to guests loudly and responding "I'm off duty" when I asked if she could get our waitress, to talking in front of guests about how to get more money from customers.
I haven’t eaten there in a year, or so, but noticed a difference in food. Biscuits definitely different and not as flakey,as well as my mashed potatoes were barely warm. Quantity was lacking on my chicken tenderloins and mashed potatoes. Not even as much as my husband’s with his chicken fried steak… Waitress was good and timely with orders and seating was swift… I love browsing in the lobby…..
Used to love our CB. Since pandemic, they decided to seat everyone super close together even when there is only 2-3 families eating.Only one family had been served by the time we had been seated in the morning. Took very long for our food, we both had finished our coffee before the food came. Waitress never got around to filling our cup. Paid with a gift card, the cashier had to berate me for not reading the back of my gift card so I would know that when it asked me if I was paying with gift card or credit card I should choose credit. Like that makes no sense so why wouldn't you help someone checkout (which is actually your job) rather than wasting everyone's time by having the charge fail and berating them for supporting your business and unfortunately your job.
Alisha is the best waitress we have had in a long time. Even though my order was messed up she made it right. She's so calm and collected and a joy to be around. Give her a raise ?
Staff were very friendly. We showed up as a party of 12. Due to lack of communication on our part we did not call ahead or make reservations. However, they were very accommodating and the service was great.
Best blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup. Always more food than I can eat. Only place in the area that serves grits! Enjoyed browsing the store. I like to pick up a couple of the large Hershey bars (original recipe) and Gin Gins.
Another delicious meal at a Cracker Barrel. Two things could have made it better. Our vegetable sides arrived late. The restaurant was a bit cool.
My husband and I ordered and were waiting for over 45 minutes to be served turkey and dressing dinners. We arrived and were seated at 4:45 pm, at the beginning of dinner service, so we didn't expect much delay as we ordered within 5 minutes of seating. Our waitress stopped by our table after about 30 minutes to apologize for the wait and say our food should be right out. The table next to us were there well before we were seated, and they hadn't even been given their biscuits and cornbread yet. I approached a seating manager (?) if he could see what the delay was, because we were on a time constraint. He spoke to the kitchen, returned to say they were just finishing up the next batch of fried chicken and it should be served soon. I advised him we didn't order chicken (the next table did), but turkey, expecting it would be a quick choice as it's not cooked to order. He went back to speak to the kitchen and returned to tell us that they had run out of turkey dinners some time ago! We were now there for over 45 minutes, only to be told earlier "your food should be right out", and 20 minutes later, finally be told they didn't have the dinners we ordered! ? I understand slower service with the current Covid situation, but to wait over 45 minutes to find out they're out of your choice, and you now have to re-order all over again.....and only AFTER we had to ask... is just unacceptable service all the way around!! If this was the first time we had an issue here, you'd chalk it off as bad luck, but we've had other unpleasant experiences in the past: plastic wrap served within the mashed potatoes; food tasting off as it was obviously spoiled; etc. We've stayed away after each one of these incidents, only to finally return after a time to give another chance. We frequent the Lansing location and have had exemplary service with no complaints, so I don't know what problems are with the Jackson restaurant. Needless to say, we did not stay to reorder and have dinner. I think it will be quite a long time before we return to this location. As I said, we've frequented the Lansing restaurant and have had no issues whatsoever. Perhaps retraining is in order for the Jackson location.
The entire Cracker Barrel franchise is kind of strange. The food though good has no rhyme or reason to portion size. The other crazy thing is the biscuits and gravy...unless you specify sausage gravy it is a yucky flower gravy. Not my favorite breakfast place anymore.
