First time here. I liked it. I don't recall what I ordered but there was more than enough for leftovers the next day.
I had the Tom-Ka soup that has coconut milk and I was speechless! The soup was perfect. It was so delicious, so much flavor in every spoon I enjoyed it very much! I will definitely come back to try Pho soup next which I've heard is also amazing. Staff was also very nice and friendly and the restaurant was very cleaned!
Let me start out by saying that I married in to a Laotian family and I know what real Lao food is supposed to taste like. You can too when you visit Rock ‘n Thai.I ordered their world-famous khao poun and some chicken larb. Everything came out perfectly and was oh-so-authentic. They do make it rather on the mild side, so don’t expect it to have much spice, which is absolutely perfect for the average American trying Lao food for the first time. The khao poun is made with a sweet coconut milk and SUPER fresh meats and vegetables. They have sriracha at the tables if you’d like to add a little flair to it.The larb was hot and fresh and tasted absolutely perfect.Their new location is amazingly clean and decorated perfectly too. They’re at the old Big Burrito directly across the street from where they were, so if you find them and see an empty building, just look across the street and find yourself in southeast Asian paradise. If Lao food isn’t your thing, they have a wide array of southeast Asian cuisine to suit everyone’s needs. They have some of the best pho in town too.
We were visiting from out of town and decided to try it. As far as Thai places go, the food is pretty good. But not worth the almost 2 hour wait. I felt that the wait staff was not very friendly or accommodating when we inquired about our food. We were also left to sort out our own orders as they dropped them off on the table which led to some mix ups. As a former server and restaurant worker, I was not impressed. The vegan pad Thai we ordered had bits of egg and chicken. Other tables that sat down after us got their food before we got all of ours. I gave it two stars because the food was good and the portions were huge for the price. If we were to do it again we would have ordered our food to go about an hour before we wanted to eat it.
I bought pho and Tom Yum, they charged the wrong price so they swiped my card again telling me they will refund me back the first charge but they never did, it was $77 for a freaking pho and Tom Yum. Second time, I ordered Tom yum chicken and shrimp, charged additional price for the shrimp but they only put chicken no shrimp. Not a good business!
The inside was kind of dirty and the staff didn’t seem to care. My wife is a celiac and when I asked about gluten free they said yes but again didn’t seem to care. That is why I took a star away. Other than that, you get a lot of food and it is tasty. Wife didn’t get sick though.
The best Lao/Thai I've had in Michigan hands down! Slow service happens, but we're in the middle of both a pandemic and a nation wide worker reshuffle so it's not their fault, it cannot be helped. The kitchen is run by an incredibly talented woman and her grandchild serving amazing home made Thai and Lao food (I see you Larb, Papaya salad, and Lao sausage).
Fast fresh and delicious! Medium is pretty hot! I’ll be back.
Service has slowed down here. They don't put silverware in your bag when ordering for pick up, I love the food. And everything but since the move your prices jumped 2 dollars I won't be back here. I had to wait 5 minutes to pay because nobody seemed to be able to read a receipt before handing the food to a customer could have walked out with out paying
Been in the US for 3 weeks and had the best meal here by far. everything fresh and prepared with love. keep it up !
