Having been here before....and very pleased...my SO and I were looking forward to a return visit. While I knew, and ordered, what I wanted, my SO wasn't sure. So, she asked for a taste of a particular beer. The server graciously and quickly accommodated her request. Not excited about that one, she proceeded to ask for a sample of another. At that point, the server informed us that they charge 50 cents for a taste. Seriously? We have visited at least 100 microbreweries and have never been charged for a sample. In fact, we had just finished a visit to Brewery Vivant where they greeted us with, "can we offer you a sampling of any of our beers?" (By the way, I'd give that microbrewery a 5 plus. At any rate, at that point, we weren't pleased, but she went ahead and ordered a pint of another beer. Had we been pleased with the service and beers, I know we'd have ordered another, but that policy just turned us off. BUT...imagine how we felt when we saw the bill and was charged 50 cents for that sample she had offered...before telling us about the charge. If that's their policy, fine, but post it in a prominent place and make sure to tell the customer before you get the sample. We went from Thornapple Brewery being a preferred destination to Thornapple being a destination to be avoided. All for a sample that is less volume than what they lose in a draw.
In town for business and was suggested this place for beer and bar food. The amber and dark beers were fantastic. The pizza (3 Little Pigs) was very good. Not a lot of peeps in here which was surprising. It is a Wednesday so maybe it picks up on the weekends. Very roomy. Patio looked decent. Great service. Will be coming back.
I wish google had an option for no star. Bad experience ever!!!! My husband was very excited about going there to get some beer and my daughter was starving after swimming lesson.Nobody acknowledged us, not even hi or smile or be with you just a second. We were waiting about 15 mins and left. They came and serves food the table next to us a few times, no acknowledgment just looked at us and walked away. We sat outside and 3 tables outside were served. When we were leaving, I saw servers stands at the bars and talking, not like they were super busy. It was Memorial Day weekend. 3 tables outside and 2 inside, seemed too busy to greeting customers. Just wow, unbelievable.....
Stopped in for an early dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed all they had to offer. Service was really great. Their regular IPA and the double were both quite good - nice flavor and mouth feel. The pork nuggets are a standout. The pizza was also very good. The cheese sauce/soup that came with the pretzel was a little weird, but everything else during our visit was top notch. Side note - their house red is a malbec, a great nonstandard choice on their part.
Amazing food! We had a big group of guys who mostly got the whisky bbq pulled pork and the brisket sandwich! But we’re awesome! We also ordered appetizers three times. I swear, each time they only took like 4 minutes to come out! #cheesecurds Super fast and great service! The manager even came out to say hi to our group!
Friendly service and the pizza was delicious! Had live music while we were there, so it was a fun atmosphere. People in our group tried several different beers and they were all wonderful - love being able to support a locally owned business!
A group went to Thornapple Brewing Company for a social outing. We arrived at 9 pm and were curtly told the kitchen closed at 9, so I couldn't get the snack I had been looking forward to. Maybe I'm a bit naive in thinking that you can get something to eat until a restaurant closes. Apparently not. Most disappointing part of it was the waitress just gave a hard stop with no inquiry into if what I wanted could easily be prepared. While the Brewery closes at 9 pm on Monday, we went there on a Thursday. The entire time we were there, live music was playing.
The cider was good and the pizza was awesome. I however will never go on a Thursday or Saturday night given the horrendous musical performance they offer. Really? You should audition these people. I hate having to yell across the table over bad music and singing.
Good food in a typical brew pub atmosphere. Service was just Ok as kitchen forgot to put in a pizza order. They made it good on the bill which was appreciated but nevertheless a oversight. We would return as the brisket sandwich was very tasty. Beer also good.
Our server Mandi made our first time here very enjoyable. My husband ordered pizza and I had the homemade Mac n cheese. I coukd tell it was made from fresh whole ingredients. The pizza was a perfect thin crust with whiskey BBQ sauce topped with ham and pineapple. It was amazing! My husband started out having a bloody Mary made with brewer's own Vodka. It was nice and spicy. He then had a Black & Tan featuring their nitro stout. Highly recommend it.We definitely have a new favorite brewery. Very clean and enjoyable! Family friendly too!
