Without a doubt, this is one of the best breweries in the nation, particularly if you love sours. I lived in Austin for years and frequently visited Jester King (considered the best brewery in Texas). They blow those guys out of the water.
I hesitate to let the masses in on our happy little secret of mind blowing concoctions of herbs and spiked drinks, but I will because they deserve the recognition.
I wish I had known about this place sooner. Could quite possibly be my favorite brewery in Grand Rapids so far. It’s tucked away behind another business and is in an old auto repair shop I believe. Amazing staff and a very cool vibe to this place. Really unusual beers to choose from and they make what is now my favorite sour the Megatrajectory. They also make slushes and smoothies with their seltzer’s.
One of the *best* breweries in Grand Rapids that focuses on really interesting sours and other fun styles of natural beers, wines, and seltzers. The taproom is an excellent space, the patio is dog friendly, and they have a ton of cool events they regularly put on.Low key location boosts the "cool factor" but this is a can't miss if you're visiting Grand Rapids and doing a brewery tour.
I am pretty picky about sour beers, but in my opinion Speciation has the best! I also love the casual atmosphere and their wide selection of beers. I recently tried the natural wine they offer, it’s amazing as well.
I've visited Speciation several times over the years, and they've managed to become one of my favorite breweries in GR by now. There's always something new on their menu, which is quite varied, and I always leave happy. The new location is nice and I like the mural on the wall. The bartenders have always been friendly, and they can make good recommendations if you're not sure what to try. The flights are also worthwhile just to sample several of their beers or wines.
A few years back, we thought Speciation was open at their old location when they were not. The founder saw us in the parking lot and brought us in for a private tour and even gave us tastings and let us purchase some bottles. His obvious love for his customers has clearly carried over to this taproom because the beer is amazing, the service is top notch, and the location is beautiful. They are extremely family friendly and my wife even commented that they had some spare diapers and wipes in addition to the changing table in the bathroom, which makes visiting this location even easier for us. I can't wait to return to Grand Rapids to experience this place again.
Tiny hidden gem with wild sour ales, cider, and PetNat wine all made in house with old world techniques and new world style. The brewers and owners put love into their product - And love tastes delicious!
Interesting vibe, with experimental music and biodiversity theme. Coolest looking T-shirts of any brewery I’ve been to. And the beers were generally amazing. A 4.13 rating on Untappd is well earned. Awesome place and now on my Favorites list.
Awesome place to stop for a glass of wine and trivia. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The wine is fantastic -there’s also a garden outside where you can sit (heaters for wintertime). Parking can be a bit tricky, we parked against the flower boxes.
