Some of these other reviewers are incredibly critical ("the fries are thin and difficult to hold" SERIOUSLY??). Nothing is perfect, but my first experience here was great.-Dining area & men's restroom was clean-The cashier was very friendly,-By the time I filled my cup with a fountain drink, I only sat down and waited maybe 2 minutes at most for my food (which rather than calling my number, a kind worker brought out to me at the table where I had just sat down)-My burger was juicy and delicious-Fries are incredibly good (shoestring style with GREAT seasoning)-They thanked me for stopping in on my way outI'd compare this restaurant/food style to Culver's - only I think I liked Freddy's slightly more.. which is saying a lot, because I do enjoy Culver's more than 90% of fast food.Wish I had one of these closer to my home in Holland.To the employees - you guys are doing great. Ignore these negative reviews that are about petty things. The Karens are really out here. Oh, and please build one in Holland.
The food is great, but the atmosphere inside of the restaurant is okay. Sometimes when we come to eat, the tables haven't been cleaned and the trash bins are overflowing. They seem to have problems with staff and their tech, because half the time our order is wrong or we have to restate parts of it. However, these are simply the BEST fries you can get ANYWHERE.
We went there around 9:00 p.m. and we wanted ice cream but they ran out of custard and then I ordered a chili dog with onions but they were out of chili. So I ordered the hot dog with just onions no price adjustment for the not chili being there and it was cold. I will not be returning to this place business. I don't care what company or what restaurant you are you should have your supplies when you need them especially if it's something as simple as chilly or ice cream. I would not suggest going there
First the place is filthy. The floor felt as though it had been mopped with straight up grease. None of the tables were clean and there were only 2 other people dining in as we entered. The bathrooms were nasty and instead of checking them before going to break or after an employee ate and then went back to work behind the counter. We waited nearly 30 minutes for a double burger, onion rings and a basket of fries. I had to go to the counter and inquire about or food. The 2 customers that ordered after us and a employee got their food and ate before we got ours. The food was good only because it was super fresh. Really disappointed.
The service was great and the staff was very nice and clean. My fries were too salty but they were cooked perfect and came out hot and fresh. My burger was also hot cooked and made right.
The burger are good as they are fresh. The onion rings were the BEST. I really like the Fry Sauce. Kept the indoor eatery clean. Nice place to take children.
Came up here because of a hockey game an needed a quick bite so stoped here. Ordered the double Freddy burger it was phenomenal and my other family members loved the fresh crispy fries the burgers were also delicious. We ended the meal with custard which was very good and the service was top notch only complaint is i wish there was closer to us.
The steak burgers are exceptional and I sometimes go for the chilli cheese dogs. Outstanding food. Oh and the custard is delicious.

Freddy’s Frozen Custards and Steakburgers is a retro fast food restaurant in Grand Rapids. It's nicely designed and offers an old fashioned Menu of different items. The service was very friendly - also yay for wearing a mask. All of the food is prepared after order, so you get a number and can take a seat. When it's ready, you will be called. I got the Original Patty Melt, a bowl of Chili and a Hotdog. The food was hot, fresh and well spiced. The Fries are outstanding. Only minor disappointment is that the ketchup, mustard and relish for the hot dog is all in single use plastic. There should be a condiment pump station to reduce plastic waste.But overall: nice fast food restaurant, especially for the travelers on the search for retro food.
