Don’t believe the hype - while the beer was quite tasty - the snotty hipster woman bar back was more concerned primping for her photo shoot than helping customers. No one should have to wait 30 minutes to order a sandwich. “We’re too busy to help you” - “You’ll have to wait 30 MORE minutes while we finish the shoot”. The insults could continued but as someone who has worked within the hospitality industry, I’ve never been treated like that. While I don’t expect Michelin level service & cuisine at a brewpub, simple, common decency and competency can go a long way.
We had a yummy lunch with salads and apps. Aside from beer, they have a good selection of wines. Nice environment. Gift shop has nice stuff.
Used to be my fav in GR. Now mostly barrel aged, high abv beers. The days of new, interesting Pales and IPAs seem to be gone. Only thing left for my growler is Reds. Enjoyed the years we had however.
The Backwoods Bastard sandwich is probably the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. For beer, they mostly have heavier beers like IPAs, stouts, and porters, so if you prefer lighter beers, they don't have much that you would enjoy.
Stopped here after the boat show with another couple. The beers were good and had a large selection. Very nice store at the front entrance. Had a beer cheese dip which was different but very good. We caught our waitress at the end of her shift and never saw another waitress until we left. So as far as service I must rate it lower. All in all a good place to visit when in Grand Rapids.
Visited to celebrate two birthdays, my daughter and my best friend. The food was very good and large servings. The beer was on point, delicious! Our server,April was a breath of fresh air. She was friendly, very helpful, attentive and made the night that much more fun and special! She had great suggestions to help us with both beer and meal choices. Thanks for the great service!
I enjoyed my meal at Founder's. Our server was Shawn. He was attentive and offered suggestions. I enjoyed the Blushing Monk Sandwich--a cranberry chicken salad. I had one of the beers they only serve at that location. It was a chocolate stout. Others with us had wonderful sandwiches and enjoyed the Raspberry beer. I recommend for others and I look forward to visiting again.
We stopped in just for the beer. Bought a whole bunch to go and drink afterwards. It was really good and I can say that without hesitation. Service in the store was fantastic … friendly and super helpful.
This was definitely not the restaurant experience I thought it’d be. While Founders’ beer is superb, the restaurant experience isn’t personally worth it. You can get a much better food and beverage experience at many of the other breweries in Grand Rapids. In addition to this, our personal experience was dampened by a waiter who was inattentive and got our order wrong. His tone seemed rude at times, but I imagine he was simply stressed (but being in customer service requires thick skin)….
Great place to check out to have a drink and bite to eat. We ended up just have a couple beers at the bar. They have quite a selection of beers on tap. Staff was super friendly and helpful
