Awesome atmosphere… service ….. food …. Cocktails. Must get the bacon slab appetizer
Websters dictionary defines lipstick on a pig as, “the state of being Butchers Union.” The place is fun and exciting from the outside, but the food is like if Dennys and Steak and Cheese banged and had an illegitimate baby. I suspect a rich guy wanted to gentrify the block and couldn’t find a chef with a vision for the food or drinks. It wreaks of a cheap knock off of a hip restaurant he probably visited in Chicago, but lacks the heart and soul to execute. This is not fine dining, this is where guys wear hats at dinner.
Amazing food and drinks! Nolan the bartender ROCKS!
Outstanding everything! Food, Service, cocktails. Served a huge party and still killed it. Really enjoyed the restaurant, and the atmosphere. Great job to everyone.
Buzzing bar / restaurant close to DT Grand Rapids ! Service was perfect, sizable menu and various seating choices. The food was great, tasty and priced fairly !! All in all a good spot for dinner in the GR area !!
The whisky selection is pretty incredible. Nice atmosphere, the patio under the clear roof is a fun spot. The food was delicious, the meat usually comes served one level under what you order. So if you order medium well, it'll come out medium. Prices were a little on the high side. $30-50 per plate.
Had some wagyu tenderloin. Very tasty. Wasn't cheap, but I'd say they make it worth it. Came here to celebrate a couple birthdays as our first time here, very pleasantly spent, and we splurged a bit.Menu choices are broad enough to accommodate most budgets, but definitely tends a bit higher, is say in the mid range, but nothing extravagant or out of hand. Food was prepared well and we enjoyed our meals thoroughly. Also went here because of their whiskey menu. Tried a flight, and they give full portions to try rather than a small sample. Drinks were well priced, with plenty of the familiar and less familiar. Cocktails and otherwise were also available and quite tasty. It was pretty busy when we went. Definitely take advantage of the wait list online. Despite being quite busy, service was good. It's a bit loud inside, seems very popular, and for good reason. It's worth the price and a good time.If not familiar with the area, parking is a bit of a difficulty, but there are several lots nearby once you figure it out, with some street parking as well.
Love this place and wish we could have been able to visit sooner! The atmosphere/ambiance had a prohibition style feel until we got seated at the indoor/outdoor patio area, which transported us to a more Europeanesque cafe. The cocktails have such fun names and are made very well, if you love whiskey, the list is endless and the price is quite comparable. The food -from appetizers to desserts - were flawless. Not having enough stomach room might be a downfall because wanted to get everything on the menu. Make sure to make reservations on the weekends for it is a popular location.
Where is the restaurant nowadays where the restaurant team is rowing together like a bunch of Olympians and delivering not only excellent food, but providing a dining experience that is entirely exceptional..Went to butcher's union for my wife's birthday. Mark our server knocked it out of the park. Constant attention to detail, excellent suggestions on food choices. My wife had a salmon and I had a hanger steak. Would have thought that the steak was a filet. I could cut it with my fork! Excellently prepared and extremely well served. Highly recommended. Get there before Happy hour ends at 6:00 p.m. The bar makes a very good old-fashioned. ?
Absolutely fantastic experience! The food is fantastic. Just make sure your paying attention to how you want your meat cooked. I love the atmosphere here, the cocktails are fantastic, and the food is amazing! Also, never skip dessert!
