Want a good pizza in Grand Rapids?!?!I had to hit this place up while in town. Parking was no issue. Upon entering we got seated immediately. Drink orders placed (if you ask to try a beer they will allow you a sample). We placed our food order and had to wait about 20/25 minutes for it to come up.My pizza was a Detroitor. It was a nice thick crust square pizza. The buttery thick crust with a nice snap was delicious. The cheese was not greasy and had great flavor. The same with the tomato sauce that had thick tomatoes incorporated. It was very tasty. The pizza was not greasy at all. I honestly loved it.I was thinking to myself this place is really great. Is it a 5 star pizza joint? Then it happened. Ronnie James Dio came on the overhead radio system with Rainbow "Man on the Silver Mountain" yep..it's official. 5 stars! No really, it's a great pizza place, and it really is worth checking out.Food: 5 StarsEmployees: 5 StarsCleanliness: 5 StarsMusic: 5 Stars
Buddy’s features excellent Detroit-style pizza. My cup of minestrone and our shared zucchini chips were quite good too. The problem is service, which though friendly is quite slow. I suspect that this location is having staff shortages, as seems to be the case at many restaurants. Nonetheless, Buddy’s is well worth a visit.
Best export from Detroit since the Ford Mustang & Chevy Corvettes. Who knew Detroit style Pizza could be so good. And, Pizza is not the only good thing. The salads rock. My daughter loved the Greek salad with the gluten free dressing. I had the burger that was one of the best I have ever had. It was cooked exactly like I ordered and melted in my mouth. Will be back.
We happened upon Buddy's and are glad we did. We shared an 8sq Margharita pizza which was plenty for 2 people (we took 4 pieces home and ate the next day). Everyone was friendly, the restaurant clean. Our server was excellent - Dyonne - Thank You! We would eat there again - fair price, good food.
When traveling we attempt to find healthy, gluten free (for our daughter), delicious, with pleasant surroundings, friendly staff, and affordable dining options. Buddy’s checked ✅ all the boxes to meet and exceed our expectations. Our server was very courteous and kind. The restaurant as a very pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The dining area was super clean and very relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our house salad and shared the gluten free beef & mushroom pizza. My wife & I found the dough knots super yummy ? Prices are reasonable and affordable. Try it - you’ll like it?
Best pizza I've had in a long time. This was my first visit to Buddy's and I loved the pizza. Service was excellent too. Definitely going back soon.
So went to the portage location yesterday and it was the best ever! Omg i don’t usually rave about food places but my boyfriend and I really enjoyed everything. We went in between dinner and lunch so it wasn’t busy/service was great. Appetizer was really nice (buddy bread) marinara is very sweet but in the best way. Pizza was super yummy (we got old Sicilian I think ?) very filling. And dessert was out of this world. The fudge sundae with brownie was so decadent! Brownie was soft and warm, fudge and caramel was gooey and a perfection ratio of ice cream/brownie: toppings/whipped cream. Overall a good experience and the ambience is very welcoming and laid back! Not to mention the affordability. Appetizer, pizza for two (which filled us both up and had leftovers) and dessert for $40 (excluding tip) isn’t terrible honestly. Definitely coming back!!
Bought pick-up pizzas, both very good. One was cheese, olives, meat and tomatoes. The other was cheese and tomato.
Super impressed. I stopped in based on the clean and new appearance outside- didn’t know anything about the place. I had the Spicy Italian Pizza, and it was very good. Their tomato sauce is made in-house and is incredibly tasty. The waitress was very attentive and kept my stocked with Coke, which was the perfect pairing for the pizza. The place was packed, and people were having a great time.
Went to dine in and the pizza and appetizers were good but took awhile. When I went to order out my pizza it came with zero cheese. I didn't know cheese was an additional topping ? cheese is a basic just like the sauce so now I have barely sauced bread. Also the ranch is like soup and the fries through the pickup is unseasoned and barely crunchy
