Stopped by as soon as I landed at airport. First time to Grand Rapids, and enjoyed a late lunch around 2:30. Came here based on Tripadvisor reviews. Sam, the bartender was excellent and provided great advice and suggestions. Always a sucker for a good french dip sandwich, and this one did not disappoint. Had to have the tator tots as the side dish based on many reviews, and they were very good also. Sam provided great advice on a dinner restaurant based on where I was staying in the city. Will return here for my next trip to Grand Rapids.
5 stars isn’t enough, I wish I could give more. The bartender to start is absolutely brilliant and a master mixer! The waiting staff is the most friendly bunch of ladies I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Oh and the food is so damn good! Eat here! Drink here! Laugh here!
I had never been to this part of town before and stumbled on this place. Great old style bar, friendly staff and good food. Be warned, it is a bit spicy, which goes well with a pint or two of beer. Look forward to visiting again.
It was okay. Ordered takeout and it was cold when we got it, even though we picked up when advised. Loaded tots were not loaded with much of anything. No dressing for the salad or the extra sauce we paid for. Their house made chips are good.
This place is so darn good! And we're incredibly fortunate to have it within walking distance of our neighborhood, no less.Since moving in the area several years ago, Blue Dog has been a favorite spot of ours for any occasion. The ambiance, service, food and drinks are fantastic.But we're remiss to have never submitted a write up from any of our visits. This review is to correct such an oversight.We stopped yesterday a few minutes after opening and straight away found ourselves seated. After some pleasant chit-chat, Server Olivia took our drink and lunch orders.Then in no time flat, our near perfect Old Fashioned cocktails arrived. And the Poutine Tots, Blue Dog Hot Dog and Beer Battered Cod soon followed suite. The Tots and Cod are perennials for us when we dine here and they never disappoint; always consistent in their preparedness and flavor.So, it's gratifying to finally give Team Blue Dog their overlong and much deserved due. Thank you all who have ably and wonderfully served us.
Blue Dog is a great casual dining bar with excellent food, drinks, and wonderful staff. I recommend the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and the Junkyard Ruben: both are amazing. The staff provide great recommendations and know their food and drinks well. And there are sweet dog photos throughout the tavern!
I’ve heard a lot about the Blue Dog Tavern and the drinks lived up to the hype. Iver Design sent me. My only recommendation would be to get some big ice cubes for drinks like an old fashion. The vibe is very cool. Love the “dog marketing”. Will be back to try the food soon!
1st time here. Absolutely loved the atmosphere! Great food! We seen so many different varieties to choose from and there was no complaints about anything that was ordered. Which is shocking when you take a couple teenagers with you. Can't wait to try more of the food. Everything looked good it was hard to pick an item. We will definitely be here again!!!
A great place for a burger and some suds. The inside had a nice, comfortable vibe and the wait staff was fast and friendly. I had the Bourbon Street Burger which was outstanding along with some tots. Nothing but rave reviews from the other people in my party. Great selection of beer although some of them were a little pricey. I will definitely go back.
My boyfriend and I and a couple of our friends used to come here every Sunday- their food and drinks were always fantastic (only had maybe one meal out of the many many times we have eaten there that I didn't care for) and by the looks of it and the reviews it still is! We love the atmosphere and loved the servers and bartenders we had come to know on the Sundays we were there. They were always so friendly and attentive. We haven't been there in a while since we live a little further away now, but definitely planning on a trip soon!
