Stopped in to pick up some dessert while in EL. I got there within 10 minutes of closing. The staff was still very kind and helpful. You’ve got to get there early for the best selection. But the desserts they had available were absolutely delicious. Keep in mind the desserts are not overly sweet like Americans are used to. They’re well made and light. Definitely stop in for an almond croissant and fruit tart.
I used to really really love this place but I feel like the quality has gone down a LOT in recent years while prices have still steadily risen. Their croissants used to be the best around - but recently they taste like they're made with only shortening/margarine, so they're just blandly greasy instead of buttery the way a croissant should be. Bums me out to pay $6 for a bakery treat that tastes like it came from a supermarket. But the coffee is still good!
Food choices a bit meh, no pastries but lots of expensive desserts. Coffee is great and staff is friendly. Clean and classy lobby area.
Decent vibes, mostly older folks. Their oreo cake tastes of nothing, only thing you can taste is the whipped cream. Americano also is subpar.
Wonderful pastries... Many I used to make in bakeries I have worked in... Danish was light, buttery and flakey, just like they should be! Will be back!
Fresh and good service. Of the 3 things I got, the Oreo was the best, it wasn’t overly sweet like you would expect and the frosting is so light and fluffy. The fruit tarts can be better, the crust wasn’t as hard as I thought it’ll be. There was not a crunch to it. The cheese cake was good, although not sweet enough for my taste. I wish there was a larger selection as well. You’ll have to go early if you want to good stuff. Over all it was a good experience.
Very delicious! I expected the desserts to be very sweet but they somehow managed to make it light and very tasty with less sugar than normal sweets!? Would love to come back next time I'm in town! Also staff was very helpful and kind!
Chapelure is fantastic. Their pastries and other goodies are the perfect amount of sweetness...not too much, literally just right. The environment is relaxed and chill, a great place to get cozy on any day. If you are in East Lansing and have a sweet tooth, stop in.
Unfortunately nothing like the pictures. They were out of stock on many things and so understaffed, the two sisters (they looked like it) were valiantly trying to keep up with a very busy Saturday afternoon. Not sure why the place is named after the French version of Panko bread crumbs.
Great cup of coffee some things a little pricey nice atmosphere
