We came in for a day and the location was perfectly set downtown. Walking distance to plenty of attractions and restaurants. Front desk, valet, and concierge were all friendly and bend over backwards to help. The stay was booked using a free night (or so I thought) which created significant headache in getting my points replenished. Maggie went above and beyond working with corporate rewards to re-establish my points. I initially wrote the points off as a lost cause but she stayed true to her word and followed up multiple times until the matter was resolved. Excellent customer service and pleased with the outcome. A bit noisy from the outside in the late hours due to an outdoor wedding concluding but our room conveniently had a noise machine to cancel out most of the commotion. Rooftop patio is a must for sunsets.

The Good: We called the day we were to arrive to see if we would be able to check in early and the young lady I spoke with was advised us we sure could. Upon arriving early afternoon, she was on duty and extremely professional and nice. The building is wonderful as was the room, the view and the cleanliness. Upgraded our room to a nice city view, informed us about complimentary breakfast in the morning and about the rooftop bar which is one of the main reasons we booked at this hotel. This was a special trip for my wife's birthday and she was so excited about the rooftop bar so we could see the view of downtown, the stadiums, etc. The Bad: We headed out to Greektown and had a late lunch, upon returning around 5pm we freshened up and headed up to the rooftop to have an appetizer and a couple of drinks only to be told they were not accepting "walk - ins" and they required reservations. We figured maybe because the Tigers were playing at home, people came for pre-game. So we went the MGM, had dinner and thought maybe it would die down since the game was over. I called and the front desk told us the rooftop closed at Midnight and transferred upstairs t only to go to an automated message, We got back to the hotel around 1030 and tried again, advised of the same thing again. We were directed to another rooftop bar by the stadium which was jam packed and not our scene. We came back I explained we just wanted a night cap for my wife's birthday on the rooftop to see the view, this was the main reason we selected this property. This time we were told they close at 11pm and it was 10:55. Extremely disappointing and in my opinion unacceptable. We do not understand how people make reservations and stay 5-6 hours, never leaving. I find it hard to believe they could not allow us to at least have a drink and see the view. We had discussed coming back to Detroit again and staying a few days this time but due to that and that alone, we will not return to this property. This was a special trip for my wife and it pretty much deflated the Detroit portion of our vacation. I guarantee they could have allowed us in to have one lousy drink and see the view but chose to treat us as they did.

Rooftop vibe is good. Food is ok but nothing special. Drinks are good but the bar is not well stocked with top shelf liquor.

The Element is in a great location near the stadiums and Little Caesar’s Arena. My room was very nice, large and well appointed.I had a strong wifi signal, plenty of outlets, and the room was clean upon arrival. Unbeknownst to me, however, the room was not made up after the first day of our stay. Free breakfast is included in the room rate, and it proved to be a good breakfast with a decent number of both hot and cold choices. Overall we had a nice stay and I would certainly consider a return visit.

Great drinks great view! Good place to see the city

Service = slow, Food = no flavor. View = great.

Awesome views of Downtown Detroit. Be sure to make a reservation. I have gotten lucky and walked in and have been seated right away though. I guess it just depends on how busy of a day/night it is. Great craft cocktails and small plates.

Awesome view, didn’t eat much but the sliders were great.

After an awesome weekend in Detroit with my girlfriend we decided on our last night to check out the Monarch Club. We kept hearing good things from other guests at the hotel and we didn't want to go far. This turned into our best and worst experience of the weekend and it curtailed with our overall experience at the hotel. We were seated at the bar and were served by Dana. Dana was very accommodating, kind, and a top-notch bartender. Her drinks were amazing and conversation was genuine. She displayed all the facets of a great host to not only the restaurant and hotel but the city of Detroit. She was very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable, however I can't say that for the rest of the staff.During our time at the Monarch Club and the hotel overall we never felt welcomed and were made to feel out of place. From being questioned if were at the right hotel when we were checking in, to the manager and servers of the Monarch Club flashing the lights to rush us out twice. This was very rude and not a good look especially when we were in conversation with our bartender and in the process of paying.Dana went above and beyond with her service and became a highlight of our trip. It frustrates me that the rest of our experience outside of her was so uncomfortable.

Last night was my first time at the Monarch Club. And all I have to say is wow. The vibe, ambiance, atmosphere. Everything was so nice, inside and outside. I love the rooftop set up, fire pits. We had a small VIP section, velvet couches, cute tables. It was definitely an experience. Our waiter had on the cutest Blue blazer, and he made us feel so welcome. We had a group of about 15 and everyone was catered to. The food was really good. The truffle fries are a must have with the sauce on the side so good. The flat bread was different and delicious. The drinks were amazing, they put so much detail into everything. Thanks for a wonderful first experience. We will be back.
