Stopped by for the Wings. We sat at the bar, and had great service. The bartender was friendly and offered suggestions on menu options. They were out of collard greens, so we opted for the mac & cheese which was dry. The Burnt Ends (Rib Tips) were very flavorful.
Love this place! I have been going here for over 25 years! I have tried just about everything on the menu. Everything from the meatloaf, Cobb salad, collard greens, mac&Cheese, and last but not least their famous Sweetwater Wings with Seasoned fries! I haven't tried anything that wasn't tasty. Well....the mac&Cheese is a hit or miss from time to time. When it's busy they are a little slow but I am so happy they are back open after being closed for over a year! I believe there was a fire. They remained closed for over a year. They just reopened January 31 2022. Same staff, place looks the same and the wings & fries are still outstanding! They have several locations. Check them out!
Finally was able to visit an actual location and not a food truck for Sweetwater Tavern. Which was good because the wings from the food truck were not as good as at the restaurant. The wings are super tasty with the right amount of heat and marinade for 24 hours to get them that way. Also got the rib tips and fries with Cole slaw all of which were delicious with seasoning on the fries and juicy slaw. The rib tips were tender cooked perfectly, some of them were pretty bony. Good to know we can get good wings here now because they have several locations, this one's there newest from what it said in the restaurant.
Great dining experience, TVs everywhere. Food was great at a good price. Definitely will be coming back, when in Detroit
First time visiting the Sweetwater Tavern. I ordered take out rib tips appetizer, small order of wings and side of Mac’ n cheese. Rib tips were PERFECT!!! Tender and saucee. The sauce is amazing!! The wings (4) were very nicely seasoned with a spicy hot sauce flavor and paired well with ranch dressing. I was very disappointed with the Mac n cheese. The pictures on the website shows a nice cheesy sauce with tender noodles. My order look like the day old version. There was evidence that it could’ve been better but I feel I was served the 2 day old portion. Maybe if I eat inside I’d get the fresh version. So overall I was slightly disappointed because they could’ve hit a home run but opted to only get a double. 4 stars could’ve been 5.
Stopped in during a busy weekend but food was great and worth the wait. The manager on duty was very good at his job
Excellent late night soul food. Definitely a local hangout. The wings are as good as they claim and others have reviewed. Give it a try.
After waiting on my carry out for 2hours(on a lunch break), when my order finally came out my wings were so dry & hard & my Mac & cheese was just Mac no cheese, so dry & tasteless. I will never spend my money here again. I definitely don’t recommend ANYBODY ordering the Mac and cheese. The manager didn’t care.
Ordered a margarita, had to send it back as I did not ask for a sugar rim. The replacement margarita w/salt was much better. Slow wait staff. They were out of several items that my friend tried to order. Patty melt and fries were good.
Saw the reviews on my business trip. Figured I should check out and see what the talk was about. Stayed away from the Mac and cheese. Definitely the best wings ever. Cooked to perfection. Sauce was bursting with flavor.
