Stopped in for a quick snack before Belle Isle....BUSSIN!From the spicy beef sausage; the chicken to the ribs, the potato salad is sweet- not mustard based and the portions are shareable. The stand out performance goes to the PEACH COBBLER!!!!! Big Ma came thru that thang....I wanted to leave with one to go, resisted the urge of being ultra glutinous....Support Black Detroit Businesses.
smokeygsmokehouse We just finished our dinner and OMG! ?????? I had half a chicken and coleslaw and my guy had a turkey leg and baked beans. I don't know who seasons that meat, but they know how to season some DANG ON meat! We were there 2 weeks ago for the first time and we've been talking about it since then everything was delicious! Next week I'm getting the salmon ?. I can officially stop looking for a good BBQ spot because I have found it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Smokey G's pulled pork was excellent. It was moist and my perfect level of smoke. The ribs were awesome too. The finish left me curious how it was going to taste because they didn't have a bark on them, they looked like something coming out of a sous vide but they tasted fantastic. The Mac and cheese was so-so, not bad but missing something. The coleslaw was really good and had a bit of spice to them. The BBQ sauce was on point, sweet and spicy. I was super disappointed that they didn't have any brisket, but I'm confident they will satisfy.
Just had ribtips and mac and cheese.Delicious to say the least.
We went in the summer during gospel Sundays at Robert C Valade Park so we went to try out Smokey’s G smokehouse. It’s black owned and it has outdoor seating looking towards River front. The scenery was beautiful and the colorful seating arrangements and playhouses for the kids reminded me of the Caribbean! It was a pop up shop with vendors and a DJ spinning some of the holiest gospel music. Jesus can work it out had me reminiscing. We tried everything that was available on the menu. The portions were small and lightly seasoned for my taste. The grits were very watery. The line to order was long but the best part it was a bar in the pavilion. Their drinks were good and reasonable. Come out and see what the city doing!
Let the church say AMEN?..Ribs are melt in your mouth tender ?..Macaroni and cheese slappin..the coleslaw had the right amount of deliciousness. I'm definitely coming back. Shout out to the sista for the good service and recommendations.
Said it opened at 11am, didn't have someone on the register until 12pm to let me know they just opened at 12. Other than that, food was average, had a weird 'clean' taste to it. The ribs I got from Kroger was actually better and they were out of nearly half their items. Went with my wife, the meal was 46 dollars and not worth that amount for that kind of food. Sad :(.
I just spent $25 for a barbecue chicken lunch that included a half chicken, potato salad and baked beans. Honestly I ate about a third of the meal and tossed the rest. The chicken was extremely dry, the baked beans tasted old and dry. The potato salad was just okay. The service was nice and friendly. I want to patronize Detroit businesses but there was nothing that would make me want to return.
Great food and the the location is perfect! Definitely a good spot to have a meal then walk it off along the river.
Love this place!!!! Looks can be deceiving with this place as at first look it seems like a cheap take out counter. However, they have the some of the best brisket in the city and it's always consistent. Many times they even run out and there is a reason why. It has that backyard bbq picnic vibe and sometimes that is all you need.
