Great baked goods, creative and interesting options, but really hate ordering from the door, its time to open back up! I want to see what I'm ordering. I want to look at the options before I pick. Also, this is a neighborhood bakery, really stinks to not be open on Sunday. Usually by the time I get there late morning/early afternoon Saturday they are pretty much sold out of everything. I don't consider myself THAT old school but I'm not pre-ordering baked goods from a website, would be nice to just show up and browse and pick up something nice
Very good treats but prices were a little high for a slice of pie and individual cookies. (Cookies pricing I’m comparing to Detroit Cookie Co) Person who took our order was a little standoffish, wish the they would open up and let you view the bake goods they offer instead of standing outside and reading the door menu.
Stopped in to grab some.baked goods and coffee after lunch nearby. The golden oat cookies were ON POINT. The rose hip shortbreads are great as well as the cherry pie.
The pie slices were proportionate; the food tastes as good as it looks... yummy! Try the pie slices that you would never think would taste good... then be amazed!
Sister Pie used to be amazing. It felt like something new by means of something old. Great dessert without today's typical overabundance of chocolate and sugar. Looking for flavor in untypical ingredients from a cool hip bakery was awesome.Currently and even pre-pandemic, Sister Pie lost it's ability to be anything more and lost the feeling that its a place for everyone. Its more of an IG post destination for hipsters who are okay with waiting in line for the possibility the menu item is still available. If you're not standing in front of the storefront ready to order within the first hour of Sister Pie's opening, its most likely that what you came there for will be sold out. Selling out of items is very common as well as the feeling that everything is overpriced for the portions received. Employees/owner don't seem welcoming anymore when interacting with customers. Maybe its because the customer base is assumed to always be there so it doesn't matter. There isn't a genuine friendly feeling to be found anymore from a place that seemed immune to bad vibes. Now bad vibes is mostly what remains.
I’ve come a few times now and have lowered my review, because their ordering process is very haphazard and makes visiting unpleasant except in great weather. The pies here are generally good but the crust can be super super tough. The line can wrap down the street but there’s no way to view the menu without losing your space in line so it takes forever for people to place their orders and pay. They still don’t allow any customers inside, and this coupled with the winter weather + unpredictable stocking (they don’t restock anything through the day, the best stuff can sell out super fast and you won’t know until you get there) + super super slow lines = not worth the visit, at least until May/June when you won’t get poured rain on or frozen while waiting to order.Tip: on busy days, have two menus visible, or take the order of people in line in advance so it doesn’t take so long. Allowing visitors who are vaccinated and masked to order inside would be merciful when it’s 5 degrees outside and the line of just 12 or so people somehow has a 30+ min wait…
Was never a pie person, but this establishment completely changed my perspective of pie. Top customer service, social media presence is LIVE and keeps me updated, every thing I've tasted here so far has been flavorful, fresh, and most times warm. Efficient cashout process and quick service. Suggestion: get your pies early in the day before they are fast to sell OUT. Great holiday gifts. Highly recommended. A detroit staple. Only request: more vegan options please.
Was gifted a box of goodies by one of my favorite people. Everything was great. I especially liked the Peanut Butter Paprika cookie. It sort of tasted like a BBQ chip and I wasn’t mad about it.
The cranberry crumble was perfect for my daughter's birthday. The muffins and cookies were amazing too. My favorite was the rosemary cookie. They added a few extras and a happy birthday note without saying anything. The mix of flavors was so aromatic and everything was an adventure. Will be back.
Top notch ingredients used in all their products. Simply awesome bakery!
