This is the best restaurant in the city, if not the state, and you’re making a mistake if you’ve come this far and not booked a reservation yet!My partner and I recently dined on 7/10/22 and if there’s one thing that can enhance an already excellent dining experience, it’s a quality server. I will *always* ask for, and recommend, Andrew to be my guide through the always rotating plates at Selden Standard. On our trip, we got beef tartare, spicy green salad, potato gnocchi, roasted carrots, and a full sea bream as our entree. For dessert, we split a strawberry tart and half of an ice cream sandwich. They somehow find a way to make the simplest sounding dishes something extraordinary. For as long as I live within driving distance, I will consider Selden Standard *the* destination for a foodie’s dream date night. So, book your reservation now, ask for Andrew, and let the very knowledgeable staff guide you through a food experience you won’t soon forget.

Absolutely loved this place. It deserves a Michelin star for both the food and service.13/10 Already looking forward to going again.

We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner here on June 30th, and it was FANTASTIC. We had 19 guests in total and utilized the private dining room and were served by Andrew. He was absolutely amazing with keeping up with drinks and our busy group. Everyone was raving about the food, service and drinks. All of our out of town guests were in shock with how perfect everything was.

We loved this place, every dish was excellent, so far my favorite place in the greater Detroit area! Also the staff was really nice and you can tell they like working there! It’s also very cozy if you like cozy places! This place and Oak & Reel are easily the top two Detroit restaurants I’ve found so far!

Outstanding! We sat at the bar where we could see the cooks working the wood burning oven and grill. Cocktails were awesome! My companion had the In Case Of Rapture, and I had the Indifference Cherished. Both were outstanding. The menu changes regularly. The dishes that we had may not be available. We started out with the oysters on the half shell which didn't stand a chance. We shared the Agnlotti and the Lemon Chitarra. The pasta is house made and wonderful and the sauce, spot on. We also had the house made bread, which may or may not be available.Be prepared to spend a little money, but it's well worth it. Have a nice dinner, then go a few blocks and enjoy a concert with the DSO.

Food and service all excellent. Make sure you reserve a table as this place is popular! The waiter recommends four dishes for a couple -- each dish made to share. We had the spicy salad (very good), rabbit ragu and walleye fish (both excellent), and the roasted parsnips (spectacular).

This place is like small plates but larger. They are served family style and passed around so everyone can share the deliciousness. Liana paced the serving so dishes come out one/two or sometimes three at a time. Our party of 4 had Beef Tartare, Warm Spinach Salad, Roasted Cauliflower, Lemon Chitarra, Rabbit Ragu, Ricotta Agnolotti, Crispy Walleye and the topper of them all Mushroom Rags. Each was better than the first. They kept building on flavor after flavor. This place is a gourmets delight. I can't wait for their outdoor area to open so we can enjoy conversation without yelling. This place is very NOISEY!

I am comfortable and confident making this statement: Selden Standard is THE BEST restaurant in Michigan. I visited Selden Standard for the first time in 2018 and have been a returning customer ever since, never once having a dish any less than a 10/10.Words to describe Selden: Dreamy, Euphoric, Exquisite. It awakens and introduces you to taste buds that you didn’t know existed.Selden Standard is a consciously and seasonally sourced farm-to-table restaurant. The local farms and small businesses that they use are listed at the bottom of their frequently rotating menu. The service is beautiful, passionate, caring, unpretentious and patient. The Wait Staff are all incredibly knowledgeable about the cuisine on the menu and are alway eager to guide you in the right direction. Andrew is a personal favorite, as his service is above and beyond.I recommend Selden for a romantic date night OVER a steak house (recommend reservations!) OR a solo foodie trip at the Chef’s Counter. I would say 3 plates PER person to share is a great place to start. My personal favorite seasonal items are their rabbit, swordfish, trout, and vegetable carpaccio.Pictured below are dishes from our latest experience on May 8, 2022: Warm Spinach Salad with poached egg, Rabbit Ragu with pistachio pesto, BBQ Celery Root with grits and chow chow, Roasted Potatoes with miso and pickled pepper, and Pork Milanese.

First time visit. We had the waitress pick 8 dishes for sharing and they were perfect. The food was placed on the table 2 at a time with each dish a compliment to the other. She also recommended the wine which was wonderful. My group all agreed this was their best dinning experience in a long time.

This place is amazing. The menu depends on the season. I love their version of shrimp and grits!
