nothing special, below standards food and service. This is not Italian food, it is just another place trying to be Italian. For people that know about restaurants and food, it is not worth the visit. Poor all the way around. Good luck to them.

After bouncing around downtown Detroit, we stopped into San Morello's to refresh ourselves. Stop in and see Olivia. She will cure all your ailments and bring warm sunshine to any day. She introduced us to 'the Last Word'. Bottom line....do it. Our meal was great. We enjoyed pizzas and pasta dishes. The Friday early evening crowd is very engaging. If things get challenging, the Shinola Hotel is next door.

I wonderful experience all around. The hostess and wait staff were are very nice. The food was overall delicious, probably the best spaghetti I've had. One thing to note about the Sicilian Pistachio Cake is that it is a denser cake. Its consistency is closer to pound cake, and I'm fully awake that is how it is supposed to be. I just figured I put that out there for those who might not like denser cakes. I personally have to be in a particular mood for it. The olive oil ice cream was a bit odd but I wound up liking it. I would definitely recommend this place, and can totally see myself going again.

Every meal we’ve had here has been extraordinary. Favorites this time include the ricotta and hot honey and the chicken liver mousse apps; all pastas we’ve tried (one with seafood and spicy tomato and the other with lamb and broccoli rabe); pistachio cake. We will return again.

This is one of my favorite places to dine in Detroit, I went yesterday again for the third time after their recent remodel. I've had both lunch and dinner here, the food is absolutely fabulous as is the service. It is possible to get last minute reservations here, even on a weekend. My favorite part is always the drinks as they have a wide selection. I went this time to start my early birthday celebrations. They made me feel very special. Additionally, they do change their menu seasonally so everything is always new and innovative. One of the best places in the city and conveniently located inside the Shinola Hotel.

Two stars because we actually wanted to eat here after a long work day in Detroit while in town for a few nights. After calling ahead, we received a text saying they would accept walk in’s. Headed over with our group of five and the restaurant was half empty. The hostess told us that all tables were reserved. We jokingly said we’d wait a few minutes to confirm that was the case and she dismissed us so rudely. We weren’t in tank tops and cutoffs by the way, it was just a case of a bad front line for a restaurant that had come recommended. We went around the corner to a proper Michigan welcome somewhere else. What a shame—do better San Morello.

San Morello is the Italian-themed restaurant in the Shinola Hotel, a boutique hotel for the chic set. The food was very good, the service from Mary was great, and the people watching from the outside European street cafe-style tables along Woodward Avenue was equally great. However, the restaurant only serves a brunch menu on weekends. The brunch menu is limited and lacks anything (besides pizza) remotely lunch. Prices are reasonable. The wine list is also massive. We probably wouldn't return for lunch because the brunch menu just isn't sufficient.

I dined at San Morello for the first time last night and the experience went above and beyond my expectations. Our waiter Gary was helpful deciding what to order and well prepared to answer any questions we had about the menu. Extremely good service and the lamb meat balls were to die for. The atmosphere was relaxing and I am looking forward to my next special occasion meal here.

We showed up on Easter Sunday without a reservation and the place was packed. We ended up eating at the bar, and it was just perfect. We enjoyed every bite of our luncheon: the Sicilian, insulata Mistincanza, breakfast sphagetti (our favorite) and the Sandwich (thin sliced beef). Highly recommend!

4/15/22 was my first time here, My Cousin and I decided to treat our mothers to a ladies night out. This was the perfect place for them, We were seated immediatly upon arrival, the lighting was dim but not too dark, Our waiter was very friendly and on top of things. We had decided to get an assortment if appetizers, a pizza and a pasta to all split. The portions were great! The Chef sent us the Lamb Meatballs, while im not a big Lamb fan I gave it a taste ( still not a lamb fan) but the sauce was amazing. Everything was great and I highly recommend. The waiter even made sure I got my Sangria :)
