One of our goto favorites is no more. Original owner sold out. New owner appears to have switched from Sy Ginsberg's delicious premium corned beef to standard Grobbel's fair which is not as tender and tasty. A complete disappointment. Service was great. Chili was ok but tasted heavily of sugar. Fries are not worth getting. Mere stubs and undercooked. The chili dog was a sausage cut in half and smothered in runny chili, a hot mess and for $5, definitely not worth it.Sadly, after over a quarter century of patronage, we will probably not return. Another one bites the dust due to new owner stupidity.
The burger was delicious, the chicken soup isn't what it used to be but the burger made me forget all about it
The cornbeef sandwiches were terrible, the meat was course with fat in between and not favorable at all. That was my first time visiting and my last. I will not be returning. I gave one star because the cashier was nice.
Still the same feeling from when I was 13/14 years old. Still delicious. Felt like my childhood..warm and safe. This was our second kitchen away from home. Glad to see that they are keeping it the same after they original owner sold this year.
Honestly, my favorite breakfast spot in Detroit! 70's wood paneled greasy diner nook complete with great pastrami/corned beef/half sour pickles, waiters with personalities and gut busting open cups of coffee. What's not to love?
I've been trying to get to this 65-year institution for some time. Well, finally made it and the corned beef and pastrami sandwich I had was magnificent. Don't know which it was but one of the meats certainly had a smoky flavor to it. Overall the sandwich was very good and they call it a sandwich meal because by the time I was finished I was ready to take a long nap. If you haven't been well worth it!

I have been wanting to try out this Detroit Landmark for years. I finally made it. I was not disappointed! I went last month for the reuben and yesterday for the corned beef hash. The reuben is world class!
Love the nostalgia of it all. Like you are stepping back into time of the 40's. Reuben was delicious. Coleslaw was terrific. Great ? experience.
This place has wonderful sandwiches; you just have to order exactly what you want. My favorite is the Reuben, extra lean, with sauerkraut & cheese. Delicious. Our work recently placed a large order with them & they did a good job getting everything together for us. Everyone that got food enjoyed their meal. Would recommend Hygrades for good sandwiches!
