We arrived but the room booked was unavailable so they could not accommodate our party. No reasonable explanation given and customer service was lacklustre. We booked a different hotel nearby at significant additional expense. Would not recommend.
Keep away!! List of complaints too long to list in full, but let’s just say that I checked out after one night having been disgusted by the quality of the room (broken pane of glass in the window, broken/exposed electricity sockets on the walls, a shower that only offered cold, dirty water. Not to mention the toilet that consistently ran). No idea how they can offer rooms with such low quality. Awful.
Here for my son's wedding. This hotel is in need of rehab. Paint is wore off toilet seats. Things missing from walls (holes and marks). Heater/AC partial function. Shower valve not functioning to get hot water. Noise from extremely loud party in lobby that was loud in our fourth floor room.
There was a DJ in the lobby blasting music through the entire building until almost 2:30 AM. Literal club music, shaking the walls in the THIRD FLOOR. Placed multiple calls to the front desk with zero follow-up and just let the music continue. Next morning asked for a manager and were told they weren't in until 2pm, then called at 3pm and were told the managers were already gone. Zero resolution and a waste of money. Both the actual accommodations and the service were extremely lacking. Feeling disrespected as a person who paid money to just get a night of sleep and the hotel couldn't even provide the one thing it is supposed to. If I was blasting music like that in my own room, the hotel would ask you to turn it down. But it's okay for the establishment to keep all of its guests awake???
Checked in Thursday 2/10 at 9 pm. Front desk person was friendly and helpful. The hotel has been remodeled since I stayed 2 years ago. Lobby and hallway are very nice. The shocker was opening the door to my room. Nothing on the walls, the few pieces of furniture have seen their better days, the floor was engineered hard wood and thus cold and hard. Yikes I thought - 3 nights of this!I unpacked and went down to the bar. I spoke with the front desk person again. He listened well, apologized for the room and said new furniture was ordered long ago but supply chain issues delayed delivery.Sounded reasonable. The next 2 days turned around my first impression. All the staff were GREAT! From the front desk person Sal (who is also the assistant GM), to the bartenders, to the janitor. The king size bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. The location is very good with several restaurants within an easy walk. (The hotel’s restaurant is also being renovated). The bus line with good service is one block away.I will definitely stay again and highly recommend St. Regis. Just get ready the “door opening” shock . . ;-)
The rooms were not as described on the website. We were told by the front desk that their renovations were in progress. There was a foul odor in one of the rooms we reserved and it was clearly not updated. It looked a lot like a college dorm room. Very bare, old furniture, nothing on the walls. We were moved to a different room that smelled better and had some improvements. Still, the towels were very dingy and threadbare. Some towels were stained. The single panel curtains were sun-bleached and dingy. The shower head was falling out of the wall. I had to use it as a handheld shower to keep it from spraying all over the floor (no shower curtain just a half panel of glass which I think is an attempt at an update). No tissues were provided and only one roll of toilet paper for four days. We were able to track down more and the cleaning staff was accommodating. The hot and cold water settings were backwards in the sinks and showers for all of our rooms. One night we walked into the lobby and smelled gas. The front desk told us they were aware and it was nothing to be concerned about. I guess it was fine but at that point we didn’t have a lot of confidence in the hotel management so it was worrisome. It cost $20/night for parking. We had one car but were charged twice for the entire stay. My husband tried to get it corrected upon checkout and all the employee could say was we must be wrong. We clearly were not and he is still fighting that overcharge. We have stayed at St. Regis in other cities. This location is NOT up to brand’s standards or reputation. The people there were nice and did the best they could with what they had. The website needs to be changed to reflect the truth. They are grossly overstating what the St. Regis Detroit has to offer. Once you get past the lobby, it’s a two-star hotel.
Staff was incredibly friendly and our room looked very nice and was perfectly clean. Felt safe parking in their lot and it was easy to get downtown. Would definitely stay here again!
This hotel is very misleading. The website and their Instagram does not reflect the actual rooms of the hotel. Hotel is still under construction and only have a few updated rooms. Their social media should reflect the truth. My family stayed here and did not have the greatest experience.
Hotel isn't cooking any food due to covid. 1 door in 1 door out. Very awkward. Room window had a gap so freezing breeze sneeked thru. Thermostat plastic covered cannot change room temperature. Had 3 people. Only 2 towels were given. Rooms are very bland for how nice hotel is. Seems like they put most of there money into the lobby look. You do pay for parking here. Which is horrible. 20$. TV half channels don't have volume. If you don't mind my review. Go ahead an click the book button.
I love where it is located and being recently renovated had hoped for more. Just fixed up-redecorated really. Had to ask for more coffee, ice and one more towel for our third person. No breakfast, no pool. Staff were nice. Just no great shakes.
