Had high hopes for the cafe since the photos on their Instagram page make the food look phenomenal. Upon visiting for brunch it was a bit of a disappointment. I guess awesome job on the professional food photography. We were told there would be an 18% service charge which i am ok with paying, but the seating was very minimal and the food was just ok. The portions are also small. Not worth the $50+ I paid for it. Iv paid less and had a much better meal and experience in other restaurants in the area. With inflation many us are cutting back and trying to make the most out of our dining experiences. If you are looking for a place where you can say “worth the money spent” this is not that place.
Folk has become like a second home to me, and while the food and grocery selection are top notch, it’s the people I always come back for. They’re a crew of people who care deeply about their community, about supporting minority and female lead companies, and about paying their employees a true living wage.Stop by for a coffee, and make friends. They’re the best.
I understand and respect they want to use the “best” ingredients and utilize local vendors etc. - but their prices are absolutely insane. Go to any other place in Corktown/Detroit and you’ll get better portions, objectively better tasting food and locally sourced materials just like this place at lower prices. They need to get off their high horse that they’re the only one using/selling locally sourced things to justify high prices.
my last choice for breakfast in detroit. My whole group (all of us industry) agreed the food was extremely bland and uninspired. My 10 year old can make a better breakfast sandwich, typical white washed gentrified place ruining the city with 15$ mayo and white bread.
no what expects!I thought you can dine in! Nopthe food was really bad! The waffle sandwich really bad option! waffle super plain, no flavor, egg is cold and too much mayo! I thought will be awesome for the reviews but at least NO for me!The guys are really friendly, just no what expects! ?
I understand the mission behind charging more here but my husband and I paid $55 for 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 iced coffees. We were not greeted kindly. Our sandwiches had waffle and egg. While they were fresh, they were not tasty. I believe that maybe if we had come for lunch we would have had something that tasted better but over all we didn’t have too pleasant of an experience here.
Cute store, I love the fact they are local and have local grocery items, going in I expected the prices to be on the higher side. However, I did not expect them to add a 18% gratuity fee on my grocery item, which I think is completely inappropriate. Imagine going into Kroger, Whole Foods, and even your local farmer's market and them adding a 18% gratuity fee for you to pick out your own groceries. Hopefully this policy will change at Folk. Furthermore, I did not have the opportunity to change the gratuity or have the option to say no, it was address to me like this is their policy and its automatically added to your bill. There was no changing it.
Very tasty beverage; most likely the best cappuccino I’ve had! Exceptional staff and all the items you’ll need for an amazing charcuterie board!
Came in with my toddler daughter on Monday morning. Was greeted immediately and they brought a high chair over. Incredibly kind staff, great latte and delicious food! Wonderful spot! We had the waffle, avo toast- this was a fav, the hash and the brekkie. We will be back again soon.
Best cappuccino and the egg sandwich is delicious! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
