I didnt know anything about Soul Food, but have come here several times now. Very tasty meals and good kind service. The neighborhood is beautiful and it is easy to find by driving up Jefferson toward Pewabic Pottery, turn onto Van Dyke and just park right along Agnes. The neighborhood has one of those pretty names, too, tho sadly I have forgotten. But the food is the big deal, and the folksy service. I even got dessert as well. It is really worth the trip!
They recommended the bbq sandwich and it was delicious! I’ll be back to try more items on the menu. Cute little restaurant and friendly fast service. Highly reccomend!
Really good food. I had the soulfood plate and hubby had the burge, both were excellent. Plan to go back
I’m not officially a registered vegan, but after the delicious lunch I just ate at Detroit Vegan Soul, I might reconsider my status. The soul food platter with catfish, was a flavorful and filling introduction to the world of vegan eating. Although small, the restaurant is clean and inviting. The server was pleasant, friendly and quite knowledgeable. I also ordered a tropical smoothie that was tasty and could easily be considered a dessert. I will definitely return.
I'm not vegan, but absolutely love this place and have recommended it to so many others. The food here is fantastic! All of your favorites, but good for you. Highly recommend the mac and "cheese." If you're looking for a great meal and want to get outside of the touristy stuff, this is absolutely worth a try.
My friend found this restaurant when looking for a different place to eat. It’s in a cute neighborhood very close to Indian Village. It was quaint and clean. I ordered the soul food platter. Was excellent, very tasty. I never had vegan Mac and cheese, of course isn’t as rich as real cheese but I liked it. Yams were delicious, greens were still green and not over cooked. Cornbread was great. Unfortunately, they were out of dessert. I would go back.
Had their most popular dish and it was a great way to sample vegan soul food. Quick and friendly service. The only item we wouldn't order again was the smoothie only because it seemed to have had a very under-ripe banana.
We are on a plant base lifestyle . Had the pleasure of experiencing the varied menu options and wonderful ambience of the Indian Village location near downtown Detroit . I enjoyed the eggplant meatball pasta ( which tasted like real meatballs) several vegetable side dishes and friend enjoyed a vegetable dish and salad . We were too full for desert, but smoothies and desserts looked scrumptious !
I really enjoyed the food, the staff were pleasant and welcoming and there were so many options for us! My husband had the coconut bacon wrap...I'll be having that next time! Read some not great reviews, and feel that I have to say : give it another chance!
Awesome vegan food! Plenty of options! We always visit this place when we are in Detroit! We've been to both of the locations and they're both great.
