As a person that is from the south, Bert’s market place has every touch of the ancestors and every bite of their food. I have the barbecue chicken with collard greens and red beans and rice, and every bite of that food made me feel like I was back home. The food was so good to the point where I literally asked to speak to everybody that work in the kitchen and I had to express how that food made me feel.Side note: don’t go to Bert’s if you have something to do and your day. You are going to eat that food and become sleepy. And you will be absolutely surprised to know that the recipes of this restaurant in the brilliant mind of a millennial. This place is completely unbelievable and worth every dollar that is spent.
Amazing energy. If there's a such thing as relaxed upbeat, this place is it! I got to meet the owner while there and he gave me some history and a tour. His dad was Bert. The Dj was fun and watching the dancers step was entertaining. They had a vegan burger for me to order! A must go...
Ordered the fried catfish dinner with mac n cheese and fries. The fish was mushy & undercooked, the mac n cheese had no seasoning & was so runny you had to use a spoon to pick it up. There was no tarter sauce , hot sauce or even ketchup. The carrot cake was obviously not homemade, stale and the sliver was definitely not worth $7.00.Bert's used to be known for good soul food. Guess that passed away with Bert. What a waste of money!!
I don't like leaving bad reviews. This is my first one ever. But maybe I can save someone else the time and money. Went today for lunch. Service was awful. After waiting for an hour for our meals they came out in carry out containers. But this is the thing. The food was foul as hell. They are charging $3 for flat 8oz plastic cup of pop, then if you ask for a refill you get charged another$3. Our bill had $21 worth of pop charges alone for 3 people. $11.99 for 9 fried mushrooms with no seasoning and 3 of them were oil filled batter only. 1 ranch for 2 appetizers. It sucked. Do better Bert's. You guys have no excuse for any of that. Don't sell food if you can't make it right. I have many memories from when I was younger eating there with my aunt and uncle when he was a farmer who sold produce at the market. How disappointing. Enjoy my money you didn't earn. Gross food. Bad service. Ridiculous prices.
Great comedy show, the host was welcoming, great food and atmosphere outside dancing, my mother really enjoyed her 63rd birthday here, we will return
I went there last night & had a blast! There is now outdoor seating, in case you are worried about sitting too close or being inside. The DJ was outside so we got to listen to music while eating.I had the Stevie Wonder whiting fish dinner - the fish was so good & cooked to perfection! It was crispy and seasoned well - melted in my mouth. I had the side dishes of Mac & cheese and collard greens. The Mac & cheese was flavorful, nice & cheesy. The greens were a little spicy - not so crazy about those. And I got the Carmel cake. I haven't had that before so I thought it was great! The icing was good & I will say the cake tasted like it may have been boxed cake. I would totally order this Whiting dinner again, except I would not order the greens. I would pick something different. The drink? I had an 1800 Margarita. I had two of those and was good the whole night. That's is my NEW drink from here on out that I will be ordering that when I go out. They were $12 each but worth it
My name is Officer Daniels and I order from this place all the time I have never seen something so disgusting in my life today is Mother’s Day and I wanted to relax and I ordered myself and my partner something to eat this place through our food together I ordered macaroni and cheese and yams they literally put a child spoon of macaroni and cheese on top of some smash blended baby food type yams loaded in cinnamon water not in separate containers they literally were ignorant and put a spoon of macaroni on top of the water down smashed yams I ordered spareribs with gravy they came with ice chips on them literally smooch to the side like they were feeding a dog I ordered a slice of six dollar carrot cake they literally sent me this piece of lemon cake that was the size of my three-year-old baby finger a macaroni and cheese smelled like throw up and then when I called there was a young lady who answered the phone at 5:11 PM on Mother’s Day she had the nastiest attitude she found it hilarious as I was telling her this was extremely wrong on how you treat your customers I have been a customer at this place for the longest today was the day that I truly hope this business gets close down they are keeping their food out you can tail it is smelling spoiled when you open it I just am truly Appalled by what I received today And for the young lady to find it amusing and funny knowing that they just threw people’s food together today and served us with the most disgusting you I have ever experienced in my life I hope this place does not need to be protected by our Precinct and I’m on duty the way we were treated she needs to be fired and they need to be close down the other review speak for itself the macaroni and cheese literally smell like vomit and it was mixed with yams that’s how nasty they sent us food shut down this place I am calling everywhere to have this place investigated do not eat here trust me This is exactly how my food arrived shut them down
First to put my order in an last to get my food......the. Waitress/manager...realize that the food was not at the table then brought out the food one at a time....mainely concentrated. On a table with more guest....instead of both tables.....then i dont know if it was the cook or what but i ordered jerk chicken but got baked chicken
Disappointing meal. Dined in at 5P on a Thursday but they served our dinner in to go containers. Chicken wings looked old and recooked. Candied yams looked dry and tasted bland sent them back for potato salad which was no better. Red beans and rice were just ok. Cornbread was supposed to come with dinner but it was never ready. The greens did not have any flavor to them but the catfish was on point. It was hot and delicious. Left there and went to Louisiana Creole to get a satisfying meal.
Great catfish, collard greens, and Mac n cheese, but beans & rice was a dry side dish. Very accommodating for our work party.
