We have been fans of Baobob Fare since we first tried their food at a Frame popup back in 2018. Last night we dined at the restaurant for the first time and it was a great experience! We ate a fairly early dinner (5pm) since it didn't appear reservations are taken. We had our choice of tables, but by time we left the place was full. The decor inside is light, bright and cheery. The casual restaurant is exceptionally clean and uncluttered. My husband started with an African spiced coffee, which he enjoyed and I chose the flavorful, iced hibiscus tea. For dinner we shared two dishes. The Samaki (fish) was perfectly cooked and the spices were so flavorful. The meal came with a generous portion of fried plantains, stewed yellow beans, spiced pilau and corn salad. Every bite was outstanding! We also loved the Intore Stew (eggplant) with coconut rice, peanut-stewed spinach and fried plantains. Both meals were delicious! From the service to the food to the atmosphere, we really enjoyed our meal at Baobob Fare and are so happy to see how this vision we first heard about years ago has become a successful and fantastic dining destination!
Really enjoyed lunch at Baobab Fare. When we arrived only one table occupied. When we left, they were glad to turn the table to shorten the growing line of diners. The menu covers a wide range, including a variety of meats along with vegetarian dishes. We had vegetables and the portions were ample. Spied a chicken leg headed to another diner that looked delicious. Food very tasty. Service quite prompt and attentive.
Was hoping for some injera bread but the alternative was a pleasant surprise. This is a chic, modern East African spot in the heart of the city. The area is safe, there's street parking that's free until 6pm, and it's overall a great vibe. ????I ordered the fish meal with the spiced coffee. The food prices were a little on the high end but the service, the ambience and the food was good so I won't nitpick. If there were Ethiopian injera bread dishes, this would be the ultimate spot.I recommend it stop by, and tell them Dr. Zu sent ya ;)

The food was superb—flavor was tremendous, and the seasoning was precise. The staff was extremely kind, and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Prices were extremely fair and the presentations were creative. Top-notch!
Their customer service and food both were terrific! They have many choices to choose from, and their spiced coffee was the bomb! I'm definitely going back if and when the Lord permits it.
Ordered the Goat Mbuzi and the stewed Spinach side dish. The goat shank was so tender and flavorful and the rice pilao was a great texture. The spices were subtle and very complimentary. The Spinach stewed in peanut was a super silky texture that I love and did not have an overpowering peanut flavor. The corn salad was a welcome contrast. Nice presentation for take out! They paid attention to details in both flavor and packaging. Added a little something special to our game night to have take out that wasn't messily put together. Worth the extra coin for the flavor and presentation. The only things I would say is that the plantains were a little dry and I would have loved some spice option for a side dish or condiment, for those of us with a penchant for heat in our food.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Delicious, perfectly seasoned, grilled to perfection fish with flavorful sweet plantains, coconut rice, and sauce. The service was also fantastic. Last but not least, the atmosphere is fun, vibrant, and has variety of bar seating and table seating. A must visit!
Delightful - I highly recommend the fish entree. The spiced coffee was good as well, although keep in mind it is unsweetened. The hibiscus tea that my friend ordered was delicious as well. The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. I'll be coming back for sure!
What a delight! We were quickly seated, the staff were friendly, and the food was excellent!Overall great experience and would come again!
