Living on its laurels and reputation. Burgers were greasy instead of juicy; onion rings were from frozen, not freshly made; and you can’t get a glass of water unless you buy a drink (recovering alcoholics obviously not welcome to join their friends). And despite the “tips” noted above, they have one, not “many,” vegetarian options - a soggy grilled cheese sandwich made with what tasted like velvetta and Wonder Bread.” Not recommended. No wonder they’re selling the place.
This place has been an iconic burger place in the area for years. The burgers are so amazing ranked as one of the best I've had. The entire experience and atmosphere is just so cool. You walk in and seat yourself someone comes up and asks what you want, no menus just order your food. Then when you are done go up to the cash register and tell them what you ordered. It's on the honor system and it seems to work. I'm so glad places like this have been able to stay open. The burgers were so juicy and cooked perfectly. You get just the right amount of juice coming out it's not really greasy I don't know what else to say but they are just cooked right.Place is clean and staff is very friendly cannot recommend this place enough.
Finally got to check this place out! Burger was good but a bit greasy. Fries where ok. Onion rings were outstanding. Was a bit pricey, but seems every restaurant is these days lately
New Owners. New Tables. New Cash Register.Same Delicious Burgers and Onion Rings.Still Cold Beer at Affordable Prices.Still silly people who don't know that They Don't Take Credit Cards !!
Good old time basic bar, simple menu. everything tasted fresh and delicious. Burger was excellently seasoned. Onion rings were a great side to go with. Cash Only and no barbecue sauce is why it does have a 5 star. Place was clean and super friendly staff and that will get ya to laugh.
Love the place. Honor system on your bill. Huge cheese burgers, (Velveeta or Swiss), served on a wax paper. No frills. You'll run into old friends and make new friends. I've been enjoying the place since 1975, while attending UM-Dearborn.
It would be nice if they take credit card. I have to go out of my way to acquire cash just to eat there. Friends and I would eat there more often but they don't take credit card. Also it be nice if they had a better selection of real beer instead of rice water.
I love places like this. An all around, everything you would expect from a place that's been a Detroit staple since the 40's. No matter what your normal may be. If you want to get of your safe space and try a different experience. Than this is a place for you. Bartenders were great, food was great. I had to try the Cheeseburger and the Grilled Chesse. No complaints from me!!!! I will be back soon. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience.
From the moment we sat at the bar our experience was horrible. Unfortunately I can’t use the words I want to here on a family friendly platform so let’s just say that the bartenders were the most rude, disrespectful, miserable excuses for service industry workers that I have encountered anywhere. Do not be fooled by their claim of best burger around as they are basically cheap, tasteless, and greasy. We got about 2 or 3 bites of our food before the rudeness of the people working the bar got to me. I actually cashed out without even drinking my beer or finishing my burger. Horrible atmosphere….horrible service. Won’t go back ever…..
Delicious fries & burger. Service was with smiles and courtesy. We got there at the right time. Became busy after we ordered. Great to be back!!!
