Great food, friendly staff. This was my first time here and I honestly can't say enough great things about this place.Our meals were outstanding, best I've had in a very long time. Oh and the baklava all I can say is WOW!!!DEFINITELY will be going here again and bringing friends with me.
OMG we have been coming to this awesome restaurant since they first opened in Pontiac. We moved to Ohio 20 years ago but just happened to find it. The best part is Mike and Mona still have this restaurant in the family. What good memories. Mike use to thumb wrestle the kids. Mona would take our youngest in the back and give her snacks. Hey Mile and Mona. Here is how the kids are now.
I've been eating here since the doors first opened, and I honestly don't know why I've waited this long to review it. Everything I've had here - including the stuffed lamb, which I've pictured - is excellent. I purposely chose to feature this dish because not all Middle Eastern restaurants feature lamb. Being Armenian, I look for it in my travels and this dish is a hands-down winner. Just the right amount of spice and onions offset by the rice and lettuce, and I can drink that garlic sauce by the gallon. The inside of the main restaurant is by no means fancy, but it doesn't matter - it's clean, the owners/staff are welcoming, and the food never disappoints. I'd give Al Shallal more than five stars if I could.
We had my daughter's wedding shower here, it was not by design as all the other better known halls were booked. But WOW!! The food was outstanding and the staff wonderful. My guests were more than pleased with the food as was the bride. My thanks to the owners!! We will be back. Not the fanciest place but the food made up for it 100%
Sarah was so kind and helped me order my first time there. I ended up ordering a ton of food which by the way was simply exquisite BTW and she threw in a couple of small extras. I absolutely love this place, the people and most importantly the food. Their actual prices don't reflect what's online or on the menus but still very competitive prices and value for the food is exceptional. I'm planning to return back very soon.
My family and I absolutely LOVE this place! We have tried other middle eastern restaurants but nothing compares to Al Shallal. Everyone is so friendly and the food is delicious. Do yourself a favor and go try their food, you will NOT be disappointed!!!
These people are thieves. Owner is a crook. Food is old and nasty. Don't book the banquet area, they'll overcharge you for everything from the prices that were originally discussed during booking. They also charge per plate so they'll say there was 50 people there when there was only 40. How can 50 people sit on 4 tables of 10? I'm not sure how this place is still in business. Will never return and not to mention everybody there is absolutely very rude.
I got a carry out from Al Shallal. Food was absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly and the service was outstanding. The cashier was very helpful. Highly recommend this restaurant. Make sure you try the rice pudding!
i got a carry and the food was absolutely excellent.but the best part of my experience was the hostess/ waitress. super nice and friendly very accommodating and helpful. would definitely recommend this place. and try the homemade rice pudding very good.
The place is in need of an update but the quality of the food is amazing. My wife and I reserved the banquet hall for our sons 1st birthday and I was a little hesitant. When they served the food, by God was it amazing. It was better than at weddings and a few other places. From now on when we order catering, it will be from here.
