I was visiting the Auburn Hills area for a short getaway and had intended on eating at Rainforest Cafe in the area. Long story short that was booked solid and we couldn't go. That turned out to be my lucky break as we then went to look for something else. We wanted something a little different and came across Shish Palace. It is just in a little strip mall but it was near our hotel and it was getting late so we decided to give it a try. My wife and I tried the Shish Combo for 2. This came with a kabo, 2 chicken tawook, 2 kibbee and enough rice to feed 4 but it was delish and provided lunch the next day as well. When we sat down they placed down this amazing pillowy bread. It looked like pita but was better than any pita I've ever had. Along with this was an amazing garlic dipping sauce. I'm not even that much of a bread eater but this was fantastic. Along with the entrees you also had a choice of salad or soup. My wife had the salad which was very nicely appointed and had a tangy house dressing. I had the chicken vegetable soup which was very tasty. Honestly there isn't one thing I can fault. The food was great, our water were always topped off, we had attentive service and things were provided containers to take back to the hotel. Thankfully we had a fridge because it would have been a shame to have wasted that food and there was no way we could have eaten it all in one setting and I have a robust appetite. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Wish I lived closer to it because it was great. Will definitely return if I am in the area again.
I always included this restaurant in my dinner rotation when in the area on business. This is my third trip post-covid and the food and service were excellent. My all time favorite is the Chicken Tawook with lemon oregano. The warm bread and garlic sauce is also very good!
So nice that they have chicken kafta or skewers, this is my latest jam at any middle eastern restaurant of late. Ordered the sampler plate with all chicken (2 chicken kebabs, chicken kafta and chicken shawarma with veggies and two dinner salads and orange and carrot and orange and apple. Their garlic spread is made with olive oil and not butter here, nice, we could eat it with our meats then. The garlic spread is quite flavorful, nice bite and tang from the garlic and lighter than butter, it’s good on its own even. The salads were out, they are good, fresh and crunchy. The tabouli is good as well, nicely seasoned and lemony too. The baba ghanouj and spicy hummus are both good. The veggie grape leaves are good, nice tartness and good with the garlic spread too. ;) The falafel is nice and crunchy on the outside and moist and not dry at all on the inside. The meats are so good. Chicken shawarma meat is yummy, a bit dry. The chicken kafta is extremely dry, not my favorite here at all, it does have a lot of good flavor though, just way too cooked for my liking. It even leaves shards of meat as you saw through it with a serrated knife. It’s dry. The chicken Tawook is also rather dry. The waiter told us that they have to cook the kafta longer. Ok. The side of hot zest at sauce is good with everything. It’s just crushed pepper, burns the mouth but makes any meat edible, along with the garlic spread. Roasted sweet potato, one and some zucchini, carrot and green peppers instead of rice for our platter bed. All of the food was quite good until the meat came out. The meat was all over cooked and way too dry. The waiter told us a couple of times that they have to cook the meat fully, they can cook the lamb medium rare but not chicken. He really tried hard to replace the meats, offered us some baklava and some rice rice and shawarma in a to go container, but we had to decline since we are not eating rice and aren’t eating any gluten. We would have loved to have their fresh pita with the garlic spread. The raw juices are both good. They did charge us an extra $2 for the extra chicken kebab. Extra chicken shawarma meat would not have been an extra charge. The best part of the meal was the garlic spread, spicy zest sauce, salad, grape leaves, hummus and baba ghanouj, tabouli and roasted veggies. The meats were least thrilling part of our meal tonight. I have have all of the chicken meats at other places and they weren’t as dry or required to he cooked as long as they cook it here. The flavors of all of the food, including the meats are all good despite the dry meat. Service here was quite good, attentive, accommodating, customer centric and friendly too. Food is generally good, would not get the chicken kafta again, stick to the chicken shawarma or lamb meats.
Ordered Chicken Shawarma Pita. Very fast service but sandwich had charred pieces of chicken throughout the sandwich.
First of all, the food here is terrific! The place is packed at lunch for good reason— but come even though it’s busy. Seats move and the service is good! But the fresh, hot bread and garlic sauce is the kicker—so delicious it just makes you ?
I’ve lived in this area for a long time. We get carry out at least 2 to 3 times a month. The staff there is super friendly. The chicken Shawarma dinner plates is what we always get and you get plenty of food. My husband loves the lamb soup. You get lots of bread as well with the garlic spread
This is K&M Shish Palace, apparently not related to other Shish Palaces in the Detroit area. On a weekend getaway with the wife (shopping at Great Lakes Crossing, lol)we stopped in as I was craving some shwarma which is not available close to home for me. This cuisine is not my wife's favorite, generally. Got hummus with warm fresh flatbread, and both a chicken and a lamb shwarma for takeout. Yum! Wife even had to admit she enjoyed it especially their house mad hummus and warm flatbread! Service was good and prices reasonable, we would definitely go back when in the area!
Strip mall store front - a bit difficult to find. Food is basic middle eastern with a fairly large menu offering. Service prompt but not very personable. A good quick lunch place.
